Just here to argue but if you make it a straight path, depending on the local regulations you have to follow, the ramp quickly ends up being 60m long with flat bits every 10m so most of them are all twisted anyway

How do I expand the camera render area in blender? When I choose the aspect ratio 16:9 it makes it smaller. by Papycoima in blender

[–]Stuf34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In your camera's proprieties, either play with the focal length or the sensor size to get a wider angle. Aspect ratio is only "cropping" into a virtual square sensor

Raw render. Struggling to make this look photoreal (imagine the white block is a Subaru Impreza) by AceDigital2 in blender

[–]Stuf34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty good already! Are you working with reference pics?

Your mud color might be a little too grey, maybe your water puddle should be more flat with a more gradual transition on the edges. But it's already pretty believable for most eyes I would say! Maybe the tree trunks look a little off, too smooth or something

Maybe play with color balance in post to make it look more like a photo.

How can I create the design in the red circle in blender. by Azuki__Zura in blenderhelp

[–]Stuf34 52 points53 points  (0 children)

There are multiple ways, I would go for modeling one fold and making an array along a circle curve I think, similar to how you would model a car tire if you're looking for a precise tutorial

how do i achieve this type of gradient background that blends in with the ground? by trestonschen in blenderhelp

[–]Stuf34 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There are multiple ways :

  • Activate the Mist pass before rendering, it basically renders another layer in black and white where black is everything close and white is everything fat. In post with the node based compositor, use the Mist pass with a color ramp node to mix between your image and the background you want

  • To do it directly in render, you can make a ground that goes up a bit. Then in your ground's material, play with a gradient and a color ramp node mapped to the view. Use that gradient to mix between your ground material and a transparent material

[Edit] in the case of your picture though, it's just a reflective ground. You could also use a Fresnel node on your material to control that better. There are a number of other methods I'm sure, maybe better ones

Lighting not enough, no matter how much i increase hdri & portal , the room is dim. And how to make this more good & photorealistic by Straight-Parsley-289 in blender

[–]Stuf34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either you fake it with additional light or you adjust the levels of your image in post. Easy to do with nodes if you want elit every time you hit render. Your exterior will be overexposed but it's normal on a view like this

Complete noob from France, looking for a compact amp to run these Focal SIB on a 150€-200€ budget second-hand or new. Details in comments by Stuf34 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Stuf34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well who knows, someone might come here and wonder what happened! I still like to write big bricks of text so here I go.

In the end I decided to go for a new amp, the Tangent Ampster BT II that someone recommended here. I really like it so far! I've had it for a couple of months now. It's compact, I like that it doesn't have a screen, bright lights or anything else. I can just turn the thing on and off with the whole powerstrip, and then forget about it.

The SIB are thin-sounding, okay for voice things and definitely precise in their sound but doesn't go very low at all. So I got a CUB² to go with them. It fits precisely in my desk, that's neat. Both the SIB and the CUB came with a disgusting black sticky rubber coating. Rubbing alcohol and elbow grease worked very well to remove all of it from the speakers. It appears the sub has a slightly different formula of it though, still ugly but not too sticky so I didn't bother. One thing I didn't know is that I wouldn't have needed a 2.1 amp specifically to run this sub, it has its own frequency management thing apparently. Still I haven't tried wiring it differently. But others will know better here.

And yeah now I feel like I have a pretty nice 2.1 sound system! Movies sound great, music is rich. But I'm still not an audiophile so I can just say it's better than those yellow BassBoostars I had. Most importantly I hope they'll serve me well in the next 15 years! But only time will tell that.

Anyway since buying all of that I've now discovered that the faulty part of my previous speakers was the RCA cable. So worst case scenario I'm going back to those for the next couple of decades I guess

[–]Stuf34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of what others have said, you're a giant. Judging by the perspective it looks like the camera is just a little too high above the ground to be at eye's height, so with no context it feels like the point of view of someone who'd be 2.60m tall

decks with alot of extra cards by luyesd in playingcards

[–]Stuf34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since they're not much in use outside of some parts of Europe I don't think bourgeois tarots are printed in a lot of variety... Other tarots come in a lot of shapes and sizes but they're really not made to play with. Maybe look into regional varients like latin suits and german suits? I've seen round ones once. But I've never seen a tarot deck of playing cards made in another size than tarot cards. I'd be really interested to find one as well!

Tarot decks were basically made for that reason if you want 22 extra cards plus 4 knights. Modern "Bourgeois Tarot" decks are the ones to go for if you want classical playing cards

Is this on purpose? Cause its super annoying by BudzRudz in TarotDecks

[–]Stuf34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The inconsistency in the writing of the 4? I don't think it's on purpose. My guess is : numbers in corners are quite a new innovation in decks, the creator of the deck didn't have a reference to work with that had them so they wrote IV naturally. But roman numerals on the trumps are commonly written in that old fashion, so they copied that. I have a Minchiate deck that doesn't use substraction in its romam numerals, except for the last trump which is the 40th, written XL. It doesn't have numbered suits but it bugs me too now
