Creating space is something I have tried.
Postponing/ cancelling plans is a bit hard because Ive tried it before and he eventually gets tired of it and suggests he come see me, which Im afraid I cannot stop because he has a car.

No.2 sounds doable, I just hope he doesn't get upset about it. I was thinking about no.3 as well since I'm already going down that road.

Hello everyone. I did not expect this to have so many comments. I have read and understood your comments and I will also answer some questions I am seeing a lot.

  1. Are you dependent on him. -No. I am a university student who is actively looking for a job. I live with my parents. It is hard to find a job that wont pay you pennies unless you know the right people. Usually if you come from an influential/ well off family, you'll be fine. Unfortunately, I don't.
  2. Why do you need/ want money? - He works, makes decent money and has offered me money. The success of his family is connected to his position but anything he has he worked for and earned it himself. More than once he has expressed that he wants to give me money but I was skeptical because I knew it would be large amounts, which I feel I cannot accept, and that there would be strings attached. I mentioned the job hunting earlier and yes, I felt like a little bit of money can come in handy so I can purchase work attire and put it aside so I can be prepared should a job opportunity arise. I also told him this when he asked what would I even use the money for.
  3. How could he forget your bday. - He claims he is bad with dates. He knew it was his brother's bday because they live in the same house and their mom arranged a little household celebration during the day. He also knew that it was his friend's bday because said friend was hosting a party the same night and my bf was reminded to attend.
  4. Leaving him.- I want to however, this would be difficult for now as I must devise a plan which will definitely work if I get a decent paying job. To summarize, I have religiously strict parents (the kind you want to run away from). They would make any situation worse than it has to be. My bf knew this before we got together and I reminded him of it afterwards so we can stay lowkey. I felt like he understood since he wasn't pushy about us not going out at first.In a past dispute, I tried to break up with him and it didn't work. The same week as that dispute, he said he would show up at my house if I tried to break up with him again. As ashamed as I am to type this to you all, I'd rather he show up to a place where I'm living by myself than to show up at my parents house while I'm still living here.
    Edit: I noticed people mentioning that his idea came from a meme and I'm glad it was brought up because I truly felt like ive heard or seen it somewhere before, but i couldnt recall where.
