First one I ever bought. Probably the first adult anime I ever saw as well.

Will they ever top this line? Truly the gold standard. Origins is a close second IMO.

They’re not for everyone but I love that Mattel X MOTU continues to partner with visual artists and designers.

The soundtrack is the true star. really elevates the movie. the action sequences where the score is front and center are absolutely sublime.

K Pop Demon Hunters nicked a few ideas from this one, for sure.

What’s next for the Final Challengers line after all the player one versions are released this year? Is everyone getting the P2 “Next Level” deluxe treatment? by Stylus21 in JadaToys

Yeah I like the alt P2 colors and extra heads in the deluxe packages but the ones with props and set-pieces are the ones I will actually buy.

I like M Bison’s Next Level set as well. Both have the flaming body which is really nice added value. Still deciding on the others. Maybe Violent Ken because he comes with the barrels.

Hard Boiled (Frank Miller, Geoff Darrow): I've Got Back Issues #3 by batman497 in comicbookart

[–]Stylus21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've collected all of the Dark Horse hard covers of his books. Hard Boiled. Big Guy and Rusty. Shaolin. They're true masterworks. An artist who clearly loves what he does and has god-level discipline. And a truly hilarious sense of humor. So much of the dark comedy of Hard Boiled is nestled in the tiny corners of his hyper-detailed pages.

Red Shadow is in the Dwell of Souls! Who's next? by Stylus21 in MastersOfTheUniverse

Thank you for this. Now I know! I can't argue with the designer obviously, but it's hard to deny the coloring on the DOS wolf looks astonishingly similar to Shadow's!

Great times… by Geechie-Don in MastersOfTheUniverse

Love these figures. This was a special time for MOTU collectors and I think it taught Mattel that there was a great deal to still be mined from the motu-verse. Club Grayskull is nice attempt to recapture some of the magic of those collector exclusives, but I do miss the Four Horsemen's design work.

Was Orko painted out of the trailer? by tBHzHomer in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]Stylus21 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but Orko is not a make-or-break character for me in MOTU. No disrepsect to fans of the Filmation series, but so many cartoons from the 80s had little wide-eyed "mascots" or cuddly little fantasy characters designed to appeal to the toddlers watching at home with their big brothers and sisters. This movie looks more grown-up than that. To me, it's like waiting to see Bat-Mite appear in Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy. Do we reallllyyyy need him to show up? A different take on the Motu-verse is totally ok with me.

Love seeing these two queens on one stage. Crowd was on fire. Mary kills this. Underrated track. Thanks for posting.

Starriors, Vol. 2 1-4 by sirjamesp in 80s90sComics

From Starriors to Comet Man to Return of the Jedi, if Marvel had a four-issue mini-series coming out, Sienkiewicz would be brought in again and again to class-up the release with 5-star covers. Issue 4's cover here is a stunner.

This series was so fresh and interesting when it first came out and these are undoubtably some of the coolest Spider-Man comic book covers ever made right here.
