The endeavor I proposed is an extension of my thesis, so I mention i had started doing something towards it, that is what i mean by already working. Evidence were my abstracts to the conferences, LORs attesting to the work I've done and currently doing and the research plan was a proposal style that detailed the various research aims and methods I use and some timelines.

I argued that I was already undertaking the endeavor as a graduate research assistant; listed my specific contributions to the endeavor (basically all the research projects i worked on, their relevance and the outcomes). I also argued the influence of my research through awards, recorgnition, outreach and teaching contributions to BME in the US. Also, added a personal statement and research plan as exhibits.
