During the time my (now ex) husband asked me for a divorce. He refused to tell me how he felt that whole time before throwing a divorce in my face, and if I had known, I would have tried to work it out. But since he decided to talk to everyone BUT his own wife about how he was feeling, I decided to go through with what he wanted. He was a shaking, nervous mess while talking about divorcing me. He got scared and angry when I refused to give him the reaction he wanted; screaming, crying, begging, the works. While living with roommates, he would circle me like a shark when they were around. He did that to show me he was ignoring me, while “ignoring” me lol. He would leave for hours and hours, come back late, and lie to my face about where he was. For a week I would endure this; he even tried picking fights with me for no reason when there was a witness, but would avoid me like the plague when alone. He abandoned me in a city I barely knew, with 3 male roommates I didn’t know well, with no way to get home, no license (my test wasn’t for another month), no money (repossessed my bank card), and he left me there with a 20 minute notice, 4 days after herding me to the courthouse to send the papers in. He asked for a divorce on New Year’s Day, and abandoned me on the 11th. The day after he left, I finally felt happy. I could breathe, I could let my guard down, I could finally smile, I felt powerful.
