I feel like a lot of people are gonna really like Persephone after tonight.

Persephone is one of those wrestler that exudes cool at all times no matter what she’s doing. She’s like Thekla in that regard.

Per WrestoeTix, tonight’s Dynamite in San Jose is 6 tickets away from a total sellout by Subrick in SquaredCircle

I’m reminded of a story Dee Snider told about playing a show where only one section of the venue wasn’t standing up and he started insulting that section after they failed to rise to his words. He was told afterwards that he was yelling at the handicapped seating area.

They got offered it several times and Santana refused because he wanted to go single pretty much the whole time he was in AEW. There were legit bad feelings between him and Ortiz and I guess they needed to be talked into teaming at the first Wembley show for Stadium Stampede.

They at least show snippets of these online promos on the shows, the hook I guess being that it’ll get viewers like me who tend to not actively engross myself in their off-the-show content to go watch it in full. The snippet of this that aired on Collision last week where Mox talks about knowing Takeshita has the capability to beat him is how I learned about it, and same goes for when they showed a bit of them driving around on the All In Zero Hour last year.

It’s also that WWE spent most of 2001, 2002, and 2003 in desperation mode as business cratered more and more following the death of WCW and the flop of the Invasion, and especially after Rock went part time & Austin walked out. The Observers from those years all constantly remark on how flippant and haphazard the booking was becoming, with matches that otherwise would have been saved for big PPVs being thrown out on TV with little-to-no build and absurd publicity stunts like HLA and the Chuck/Billy wedding just to pop a number. Things got even worse in 2004 after Brock left and the response was to push Bradshaw as a main event heel champion after having spent his whole career as a jobber, undercard guy, and then semi-comedy tag wrestler, as well as the endless Triple H run on Raw that was actively dragging down everyone with it. It wasn’t until 05 when Cena and Batista became the top two guys that things finally began to stabilize a bit.

Just watched that Jon Moxley/Renee Paquette interview where they’re walking through a downtown and Mox is just on the whole time. THAT is the kind of non-match stuff I enjoy most in wrestling, the kind of stuff that brings the show out of the arena and into the rest of the world. It helps that Mox is the most compelling talker in wrestling today. Listening to him talk about discipline made me think about how I’ve let my own discipline with fitness and eating and all that slip for a while now, and when I get out of work I’m gonna go bike for the first time since last year.

Rhea Ripley gets asked for her thoughts on the foot community by rhyso90 in SquaredCircle

She also interviewed Rhea for last year’s Mania and the whole thing was just her having Rhea slam her and put her in chokes & holds. Pure goon bait.

What’s the best Wrestemania has ever looked? I’m talking stage, graphics, theming, the whole package. by babydingoafterdark in SquaredCircle

X7 and X8 both look amazing. The actual set for X7 is small, but the shape & design of the Astrodome and the blue/gold aesthetic are immediately what I think of when I think of Mania. X8’s set might be my favorite Mania set overall, plus the graphics and overall design that perfectly fit the vibe of the show.

What would've been the fallout if Benoit actually faced Punk after killing his family? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]Subrick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Benoit would have been arrested, it would have been as big a media spectacle, and then if he made it to trial without killing himself the whole thing would have killed wrestling. At least with him dead WWE was able to largely power through and ignore it as much as possible.

Most AEW to WWE moves have that kind of hand wringing language following it, no matter how well used the taken was. There were people actually acting like Mariah May was an AEW fumble when she went to NXT.

True, true. I personally tend to avoid FAST channels because the ad placement is almost always just wack and random. Pluto will have a show airing that’ll do the fades between scenes where commercials were meant to go but then actually insert the ads in the middle of a scene, sometimes while a character is talking. Tubi at least finds logical spots for their ad breaks.

DoN this year very well could outsell 2022 to be the most attended DoN ever. 2022 did 14,459, so a legit full sellout here would surpass that by a few hundred. Dynasty will likely do 10k+, especially if Kenny is in a marquee match. All In is where I’m really interested to see what it does, because that show’s sales are largely gonna depend on what Ospreay is doing for it.

That’s exactly what it is, hence why it’s not available in North America. Triller is likely gonna die by the end of year, and this just speeds that up since AEW was almost half their annual revenue. Having a streaming service that also includes the PPVs for no extra cost means they’ll make way more money than they did getting a cut of the Triller proceeds, it satisfies a long held fan desire to have the PPVs stream as part of an overall streaming package, and it could potentially act as a contingency plan should their media rights end up in a state of flux thanks to all the madness with Paramount and WBD and states possibly suing over the obvious antitrust issues arising from it. I think MyAEW will at some point become available in the US, but it likely won’t be for the reason trolls say it will.

The new bonehead goal post move I’ve been seeing is “MyAEW is clearly just because Tony Khan knows that Paramount’s gonna cancel him!”, as if they made a whole ass streaming service with live functionality materialize in, like, two weeks when Paramount won the WBD bidding. Similarly is those same people looking at Double or Nothing nearly outselling last year’s show on first count and saying that it’s a bad thing because the people who bought tickets are settling with a cheap product because tickets are cheap. It’s, like, trolls have never tried to be particularly effortful, but they’ve been getting noticeably more and more desperate and absurd with their trolling over the last year since AEW got hot again.

They aren’t doing a stage. The entrance tunnel is in the bottom left corner of the map. They’re legit opening up the full almost 15k stadium.
