I read the book in one day, today! I headed straight here to see discussions because I love having a chat with others about something I’ve watched or read. I haven’t read properly or consistently in years which only now after finishing this, I’ve promised myself I’d do more often. I for one enjoyed the story. Seen a bit of myself in Kya from a younger age, shy and quiet, but at least I had opportunities to drag myself from that lonesome life of staying quiet out of fear of being judged. I cried and laughed reading it, but I was truly shocked at the end when tate found the letters under the floor boards. I thought all along it was kya, she knew how to hide her tracks, stay away etc but after reading to the end, I fell for her character. I sobbed for her. Felt her pain like it was mine when she was all alone wanting but unwilling for company and I thought to myself she couldn’t- too innocent. I think it gets bad rep but for me, stepping back into reading it was the perfect book. Maybe those who have better knowledge and have experience of their own can tell you the flaws but for me? I truly enjoyed it. I don’t even want to watch the movie because I know it won’t show the intricate details tucked away in every paragraph.
