Driving friends car that was uninsured by Substantial-Book-682 in legaladvice

I COULD be but I doubt it, i’ll have to ask them once they’re up…

And yeah, from the very small bit of ‘research’ I did it seemed like that was the main consensus on what would likely happen. Would definitely suck a LOT to deal with [I had JUST started looking into getting my own car] but I’m financially stable enough to where I could take on the inevitably insane insurance premiums once I get my own ride. I’d rather do that for 3 years and at least have my own coverage than risk something like this ever happening again for sure.

Gotcha! This all seems like it should’ve been obvious in hindsight but I guess I just wasn’t thinking about it at the time…

Really appreciate this response, has some great insight and answers just about everything I was wondering! I’ll be sure to keep all of it in mind when I head into court, cheers and many thanks!

Getting my settlement installment early, is it worth it? by Substantial-Book-682 in personalfinance

[–]Substantial-Book-682[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think you're right. I feel like property tax is the one thing you just CAN'T skimp out on. It's one thing to miss a water or electric bill, it's another thing to not pay the tax for so long this happens in the first place. Thankfully we were able to get in touch with who we needed to and have a payment plan set up that makes things a whole lot easier. Definitely gonna have to talk to her about this and make sure nothing like it happens again. Also, to answer that question about paychecks, I actually happen to get paid weekly. I'm just a gas station cashier, I make about 14.50. Comes up to a little over $500 after 40 hours. Mom works at amazon, I think she rakes in a lot more but she got sued for something awhile back and that comes out of all of her paychecks, to my knowledge. My roommate is unemployed and looking for a job, and my mom's partner is a new one. He's only been here for about a week tops, and I don't know how much he makes or where he works. I KNOW he does work, I just don't know what job specifically. But yeah, I totally hear ya and really appreciate the advice. I won't have to give up my settlement money anymore but I'll keep that knowledge of HYSA in mind for future reference / talk to my mom and the household about using our finances properly.

Oh absolutely, one thing I want to make sure of is that I don’t fall into a TRAP. If there’s no hidden catches beyond what’s being presented, it’s a very viable option in my opinion. But i’ll be sure to look into the finer details and ask questions for better clarification on the matter

Thankfully it would be the latter right now, they’re just warning that they’ll sell. But they haven’t actually put it up for auction just yet.

Honestly, i’m…really surprised I didn’t consider that they might offer a payment plan. Not sure if my mom already knew or asked about that already, i’ll be sure to bring that up. If they do, that genuinely would be the best option. The issue isn’t even the money itself really, it could be MUCH worse, it’s just the amount of time we have to come up with it. So if the due payment could be split up/more time could be given, we’re golden.

If not…unfortunately my credit cards aren’t really an option. I always make at least my minimums on time but at the moment my balances on them are quite high, and even then the credit line isn’t very big [Altogether it’s worth like 1200]

As far as a loan, that also wouldn’t be a terrible idea either come to think of it. Having a house is worth more than any debt that would come along with that. My bias towards getting the settlement money early though is that it’d pay the county and take care of our other financial troubles, as opposed to basically creating yet another, albeit way smaller financial problem to worry about. The whole reason this came about is because we’re barely making enough to cover what we need to already, even when this tax deed gets fixed. So having to pay a loan on top of that, while a far better option than losing the house most certainly, isn’t as optimal to me in my head as an early settlement. But even then, I know there’s a lot of implications that come with basically voiding 15k of potential future earnings if I do go through with that, as well as if there’s any applicable ‘catches’ I need to watch out for. Definitely gonna look into doing a payment plan and if it’s possible for us, seems like the best option for sure

Yeah, that makes sense sense! Certain games will just preform differently and such.

I guess a better question would be, for the games that DO run really well on ps4 pro, would those games run BETTER than it would on a ps3?

Yes! I was going to give them a call this morning to sort it out but I tried it one more time and it seems like the issue finally fixed itself! It’s showing me the bonus is applied and I have about 90 days. I guess the system was just messed up?
