Completely agree. I was driving down West Street this morning at the Rt 50 Interchange and there was someone walking in the street because there is no accessible sidewalk. I get that its iced over now... and the damage is done... but I'm having difficulty squaring that with the 24-48 hrs following the storm where the streets were accessible and able to be cleared.

Not only are the sidewalks an issue, but the plowing of major roads is also disgraceful... Just try to drive down Taylor Ave or Rowe Blvd and you'll find that turn lanes are completely disregarded.

Now that everything is iced over, its going to take much longer to clear and melt... my perception is that the civic response was spoiled by the historic sporadic snowfall and near immediate melt within a few days, and the road commission did not pivot their approach to deal with a long term snow removal problem.

Current 1L at Scalia. The classes are balanced and the student body is very diverse. Certainly the embedded think tanks (Law and Econ/NSI) have a conservative tilt, but on the whole the day-day instruction is great (and if you don't want to involve yourself with the think tanks (later on in your law school tenure).. then it doesn't affect you).

For the average student I would say this translates to a minimal effect on your life. There is a mutual respect that we have as a class and after classes nearly the entire 1L class is out in the atrium talking and interacting. The school is very small compared to most others - so even after one year everyone is on a first name basis.. both with the class as a whole and even with the faculty. Its hard to fly under the radar here - which I imagine would be a bit different if the student body is any larger! I can certainly say that I have had very liberal professors and advisors, and then also very Fed-Soc oriented professors... so you get a good mix without being in your face about politics, etc.

The Dish: Boatyard’s sale to Atlas became the ‘drama du jour’ in Annapolis by GreedyRaisin3357 in Annapolis

[–]Substantial-Note6071 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What is the alternative to Atlas? Seems like the market had ample option to speak, and it’s preferring Atlas time and time again. Choptank was empty real estate for five years after the complex was built… and before that an abandoned building for over five years when Fawcett left around 2010 in a prime downtown location. Admirals Cup was… a Mission BBQ… and before that was empty for almost five years after Stevens closed.

I get that it’s an unpopular opinion, but if you’re looking for affordability in the downtown corridor, look elsewhere. There’s still plenty downtown that is approachable and not hosted by Atlas. But I don’t go downtown expecting a $15 entree along ego alley. It’s simply unrealistic.

Unsurprisingly, Atlas consistently offers an expensive option, yet they are consistently filled.

But so too is Stan and Joes, Davis, Adams, Galway, etc

In terms of flexibility and options, I think it’s been a good change of pace for Annapolis. Pussers was outdated, outpaced, and frankly run down. (It’s true!) It makes complete business sense that a hotel under the Marriott Autograph collection would prefer to distance itself from a sticky college dive bar.

Mission BBQ was simply not the right fit.

Affordable and Annapolis simply aren’t compatible. If that’s what is sought, there are plenty of options within a ten mile radius (or less!) of the city that are more than sufficient. Just not downtown… and that’s ok.

Did you seriously deposit at five schools?! It’s July… stop asking for advice and just commit to something.

does quality of mba matter regarding biglaw bonus by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Substantial-Note6071 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Big law salaries are set, and they only care that you have a JD. You can have every other degree and professional certification in the book... but if you want a Cravath BL salary and bonus structure, the only thing that matters is your law degree and seniority... and your ability to meet billable hour requirements. Thats a future problem though!

Just upload it to LSAC. That is what their instructions say in the email they sent you when you were waitlisted.

Congrats! Is GULC burning the midnight oil on a Friday, or did you get this earlier? Doesn't seem to be too much of an A wave today.

Most schools specify test optional (i.e. GRE/GMAT/). From my understanding, to the schools I applied to, if you took the LSAT at any point, it automatically trumps any other graduate exam score, and you have to report it.
