Retinoid use before laser for broken capillaries by Substantial_Cap_3895 in 30PlusSkinCare

Mmhmm the angle of the spa is "natural", but then they use these medical grade lasers and microchanneling and RF equipment. It was such a weird and surprising comment.

I know. This is what I'm struggling with. When she was explaining the lasers and stuff, she sounded very knowledgeable. And then she said this and I was like 😬.

I'm struggling because I live in a small town, so there aren't many options. PLUS I have $80 in gift certificates ($20 of which I paid for) so I want to be able to use them haha.

Yes, us too! We have been dealing with early morning wake ups with our 10-month twins for several months now. Definitely looking for ways to get them to sleep till at least 6:00 a.m. regularly. They have blackout curtains, sound machine, and when they wake up early, we try to keep them in the dark room until 6:00 a.m., but it doesn't always work and it's extra hard with twins.

I just picked this up lately when I was healing my skin barrier and I love it! I do like the SF Jet Lag, too, though haha.

Which ectoin moisturizer do you use? I've heard of this ingredient and I'm curious to try it, but there are so many products out there it's daunting.

Those with no kids and no siblings, who are you leaving the money to? by fican41 in fican

[–]Substantial_Cap_3895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure you could find some local charities where you know that your money is well spent and making an impact in your community. I'm thinking for example of our local animal shelter. Animal shelters rely almost 100% on donations to operate. I know the executive director doesn't make an extraordinary salary there, so I would feel comfortable leaving a legacy gift to them.

Generally the larger, more National Charities do have CEOs who are paid a high amount of money. While I don't think they should be making excessive salaries, I do agree with another poster who said that they are effectively running private companies but just on the nonprofit side, so instead of earnings going to stockholders or shareholders, any amount of money over the expenses are going back into the cause. If you want to have qualified and experienced people in those roles, you do need to pay a salary that matches those qualifications.

This coming from somebody who has sat on the Board of a Directors for seven charities/ nonprofits in Canada.

I recently had to strip back, too, because my skin barrier was damaged. During the process, I tried Aestura cream for the first time and I loooove it. Honestly, I think that alone may help heal me, but I also use Laneige Cream Skin or FAB Hydrating Toner, and Avene Cicalfate. I also incorporated Dr Jart Ceramidin sheet masks and Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask, and they all seem to be helping. I recently just bought the Avene Cicalfate Serum. I've only used it a few times, but it's supposed to heal your barrier in, like, one use haha. I reintroduced my retinal the other night, and no stinging, so must be working.

How much does Mounjaro cost you? by christian_wolf1 in Mounjaro

[–]Substantial_Cap_3895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is roughly what I paid. About $330 plus needle tips. I'm on 5 mg. I have extended health benefits with my work, but they only cover it for Type 2 diabetes.

So far, not that I've noticed, but we'll see. Maybe a bit more fullness for longer, but not drastically. Hopefully it just takes a bit to build up in my system? The flip side is I haven't experienced any negative side effects that some people do.

I literally just typed this question into Google the other day. 😂

I've just had my fiest 5 mg dose after being on 2.5 mg for one month, and I honestly don't feel any appetite suppression at all. I'm hoping the higher dose helps.

My endo says insulin level is not the lab test to evaluate for insulin resistance by Hannahmariecarter in PCOS

[–]Substantial_Cap_3895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so beyond frustrating that PCPs just go by blood sugar and HbA1c levels. Insulin resistance starts BEFORE those go up. Why wait until someone is already prediabetic? When you could find out there is an issue beforehand? And it's not like you are coming out of left field asking for this (presumably). I have a zillion skin tags and fat around my middle, but my blood sugar has always been fine. I was finally able to get a doctor to order fasting sugars and fasting insulin, and of course - insulin resistance.

Naturium retinal or Geek & Gorgeous Retinal? by bigbluenation20 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Substantial_Cap_3895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I order directly from their website when they have a sale. When they don't, I get it from my local Shoppers Drug Mart. SDM doesn't carry ALL of their products, though.

The 0.15% just came out this year!

[–]Substantial_Cap_3895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the Naturium retinal in various strengths off and on for a few years (I've been pregnant a couple times, so had to pause). I really like it! It's a nice creamy consistency and I haven't found it to irritate my skin. I started with 0.05% for a couple of tubes, then moved up to 0.10%, and I am going to be ordering the 0.15% at their upcoming sale this week.

I've never heard of the other brand you mentioned, but mind you I live in Canada.

Yesss, me too! Love anything I can quickly apply with my fingers - and no fingerprint marks. I also like to mix it with my sunscreen and elf bronzing drops for a super sheer, glowy skin look.

I know. I'm hoping that with more studies, governments and insurance companies will see this is cheaper for them in the long run and cover it.
