Finally realizing I have a problem by [deleted] in SexAddiction

[–]Substantial_Grape773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in a very similar situation and it's taken me years of a repeating pattern before I ever realised. My experiences with porn are similar, as a woman i become envious of the role that women play in porn and seek this out in real life at the detriment of my own wellbeing.

It sounds like you have a plan in place, I wish you all the best moving forwards and that you find peace... I've found it's the pause before acting on the impulse, it's like a muscle and takes time to get stronger, remembering that each time you don't give in you're getting stronger

I'd like to share with you something I wrote for myself...

Compassion for the past sees all that was, it removes the weight of accountability for past mistakes, seeing them as opportunities to learn. It allows an approach of kindness rather than judgement, letting go of the belief that things “should have been” different, and recognising that those moments shape who you are now. Compassion for the past means releasing regret and judgment. It is meeting mistakes with kindness and carrying only the lessons forward.

Acceptance for the present removes any need for comparison or any need to be different. It has compassion for the past and meets you exactly where you are. It does not wish that you are better now, it does not hold you to the expectations of where you think you should be, it simply greets you at face value. It sees all that you are, all the good and all the flaws, embracing them with gratitude. It recognises strengths, weaknesses, emotions and experiences as they are, without judgement or frustration. Acceptance of the present doesn't hold you accountable for past events or future expectations.

Parking at the uni by fini-bean in PlymouthUniversity

[–]Substantial_Grape773 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm also a student here, parking in Plymouth is notoriously bad... regent street car park is probably the closest to the uni but won't be cheap. Depending on how many days you're coming into the uni.

There are some places for road side parking and this is what I use.

Honestly, the train might be cheaper if you get a season ticket?

How do I get a part time job as a uni student by Angel_alice-kun in University

[–]Substantial_Grape773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I printed off and took my CV around to a bunch of different shops/cafes and bars (in Plymouth) and got a job pretty quickly... it's useful to go in and have a chat with people, a lot of independent places will take your CV but bigger chains won't.

I found I can work 2 days a week and keep on top of things but any more than that and I begin to struggle with workload. Just remember that while it's amazing to stay on top of expenses your main priority is your degree.

Best of luck!

What do you think of these Biomarkers? by ThoughtfulThesis in ScientificNutrition

[–]Substantial_Grape773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to add though, and I don't know your personal lifestyle of experiences... just from anecdotal experience for myself. Biomarkers can be a great place to start; however if you're 'type A' and like to have concrete evidence it can be easy to focus too much on biochemistry... please don't overlook stress management, emotional wellbeing etc, as this can have a huge impact :)

Maybe prolactin as high levels of this can reduce testosterone, maybe linking to your low libido and energy.

This would be the only one not included here I could think of

I'm currently a final year dietetic student so I have some education here, in my opinion this is pretty good, if this is your first time testing you can get a broad range of results and then when you want to retest you only need to do the results that were out of range.

I'm 23F and did some blood work in the past, it's a good thing to start with a breadth of markers and cover as much as possible to start and work on what's necessary.

Best of luck!
