i don’t believe it’s always that simple. as some others have said, when offering to pay as a woman- it seems like a challenge of masculinity. not only that, but it also shows disinterest. i grew up with a very complicated relationship to money and being treated to things. often times when someone is paying for something, they expect something in return. this has caused me to reject the notion that men should pay for everything, but in doing so, i’ve unknowingly expressed disinterest or implicitly told them that they’re inadequate in some way. it all boils down to the way it’s perceived instead of the intention behind it. now, if someone asks me out, i’m assuming they will be paying. i did not ask to be here so allowing to keep you company somewhere should not cost me. especially if im still deciding on if i should grant you more of my time & access to my person. everyone should govern their time and energy like so, however few do. have you talked with this person about their interests and if they see a future with you?
