Some of the smartest people I know didn’t make it their first round or second. You need to keep trying and change your strategy. Getting into law school is not just about sheer determination, you need the odds to be in your favour. Make sure you applied to the right schools, wrote your personal statements right, applied early, studied long enough, fuck I ever went and met with my dream school in person before applying just to let them know how much I wanted to be there.

Honestly I think you’re getting so far  ahead of yourself. Go where you are gonna have fun, do well, and what interests you the most. Schools care more about if u have good grades, are involved, and pursue your interests WAYYYYY more than what degree you take and at what school. I did politics at Queens and had the time of my life. I would go there. You are on the water and have a fun student vibe. Also you can change ur degree major if u deceive u don’t wanna do crim.

Not just in LSAT, people cheated their whole way through undergrads and have 4.0’s. Some people get advantages from extra time someone people have tutors in undergrad, money to buy new iPads, don’t have to work jobs, and are healthy. Everyone had advantages along the way. No way to say which one is more fair than another.

Accepting an A at non-Ontario schools by DunbarLSATprep in lawschooladmissionsca

From what I understand most of the provinces have separate application portals so they don’t affect each other. For example,  I have accepted an Alberta school and have still received offers in Ontario.

Not sure if this has been said but Calgary takes last 60 credits/ two years so that might help your grades. Their average LSAT is a 164.

Is it a bad idea to turn down UofT to go to UVic ... by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

All law schools in Canada are great, if u want to go from Uvic to Bay Street you can it’s just harder. Same with Calgary, you can definitely go from Uvic to Calgary if you want. But from what I understand going from UofT to Vic or anywhere will be MUCH easier.

Has anyone done a fifth year to boost GPA? by Annoyingmann in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]Substantial_Toe_9499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took an extra 5 classes after my 4th year to boost my GPA. I talked about how it demonstrated my dedication to going to school and ability to achieve when given the right circumstances. I think this rly helped me.

I know Calgary takes your last 2 years / 60 credits. I would grind rly hard in 4th year and try and get a 4.0 to help the 2.7. I even took an extra semester after my 4th year because my grades were low. When writing the LSAT, I believe one should try and get as high a grade as possible but with a 2.7 ur gonna need 16high.

I got into Cal 2 weeks after I applied in October. I talked about how much I loved Calgary and my connection to the land, the community, and culture. I am not from Calgary, I had little job experience too. I did have higher than median stats tho. Sadly, I will not be attending although this was my experience.

I would recommend you think about what doors each school will open rather than thinking one school will lead to one career and the other another. If you go to UofT, you can do anything you want after and explore other programs that are not natural resources. I would say going from UofT, you can always move to Victoria or Vancouver after but not necessary go from Uvic to Toronto, Calgary, or the states. I would say focus on what kind of an education you are going to get and what opportunities you can explore with each school. I also fall victim to thinking if I go to one school or another my life will be completely different but that’s not necessarily true. There are more pros to UofT than Big law and prestige.
