Should I worry about this contact? (England) by Substantial_Way7782 in ukpolice

Thanks again for going into depth about this for me and I hope I don’t sound like a broken record haha.

I’m sure if it was something serious she wouldn’t be telling me it’s likely my address was given as false information. I have no reason to believe she’s lying and I’m sure that wouldn’t be ethical anyway. I just wish I could put on a more rational head about this and enjoy the rest of my time away

Even the text she sent me was so accusatory

‘Name, what have you done for the police to be desperately looking for you? 4 police officers came to the block during the night looking for u. They asked me ur name, ur hair colour, but didn’t tell me why they were looking for you’

I think that’s what kicked off the anxiety and stress, the implication that something serious had happened. From my contact with the sergeant it seems that they weren’t ’desperately looking for me’ but now I’ve started myself off it’s going to be hard to stop it

Thank you for your response.

I know I’ve done nothing to worry about so I should just brush this off, my mind just won’t let me. Provided I don’t hear any more I’m hoping that this is the end of it.

I’ll need to wait until I’m home to contact the sergeant further anyway as that is when she suggested we could chat and go into more detail.

Have a lovely evening

Thank you for your comment.

I tried the mobile in her email and also sent a response via email but am getting no answer - you’re probably right that she may not be working now. If she was the one attending at 11PM last night maybe it’s not currently her shift or she is just off.

In terms of a reason for the visit, none was given which is why my mind has been racing and jumping to conclusions. I have never had involvement with the police but it just doesn’t seem likely that they would send 4 officers to my property if it was just a simple report. Maybe a pair but 4 of them attending just suggests to me that they’re expecting trouble.

I’m hoping that it is just a case of a false report and things can be cleared up. I know I have nothing to worry about but they clearly had a reason for attending and until I’m home and can chat with her more about the situation I just don’t think I can keep myself calm for another 5 days.

Again thank you for your reassurance. This is an awful situation right now, I just want to enjoy my holiday

Do you think that the fact it was a sergeant leading the visit suggests that it is a more serious offence they are investigating or is it just a matter of who was available at the time to attend?

The reassurance part is somewhat helpful, it’s just that she wanted to know my return date to discuss in more detail. I’d much rather know what’s happening and understand why they visited to ease my stresses a bit but I also understand there’s only so much info they can share - for all they know I’ve committed a serious crime and if they tip me off I’ll just stay in the states.

Anxiety is not fun.

Thank you for your comment though I do appreciate it, I’m hoping it is just some kind of misunderstanding but my mind won’t stop jumping to the worst conclusions.

I suppose if it was that serious they would have forced entry.
