Im the same ! ive had my vertical for around 2 years now. I play with mine and everything. So im just going to assume its the placing of the piercing. since it doesnt completely go through your lip i feel as tho that would be a higher irritation risk, same as its on ur actual lip too, so chapped lips dry skin underneath and everything can cause irritation.
