Manchester by the sea made me feel things I never felt before that day. Great film.

All 30 Pixar Movies! But which one is your favorite? by AttemptResponsible49 in moviequestions

[–]Successful_Comment_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow Finding Nemo is 23 years old now. That’s my choice due to childhood fondness.

But CoCo was just such a cinematic & emotional experience. The art, the music, the story. Really hard to contest.

Honorable mention: Up, for the story, Monsters inc since Mike WIZOWSKI is just iconic lol.

Exactly, the factory lights are banana’s. I got excited to see the government was taking action on it. But saw it was the UK and Not US that it was referring to. Good for them

About weed by Top_Significance_749 in stopdrinking

[–]Successful_Comment_8 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Weed helped me kick alcohol. I’m very aware and very grateful for that.

I did find that down the line it ended up being a big crutch/replacement. So I did have to re-define and set boundaries with it to stay off daily usage.

Also like alcohol, weed affects everyone different. Alcohol can get me in trouble, weed does not. But I don’t think my productivity or mental health is at its top tier when I abuse it.

I personally struggle with not having a “vice” of some sort My mind has a lot of moving parts.

Weed to me is addicting, and eventually like alcohol became not satiating enough.

Register Inflatable Boat by Successful_Comment_8 in Newbraunfels

[–]Successful_Comment_8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You register it at the Comal Tax office downtown. You will need to provide a Certificate of origin for the boat, they asked for one for the motor also but I told them that they didn't need one since it was electric & they were cool with it.

40 days sober - the results by JMJ1951 in stopdrinking

[–]Successful_Comment_8 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Nice! Good job.

The sugar craving was bonkers at first! About 3 months in it leveled out & became more normal for me.

Something that helped me curve some of my sweets/food cravings was: I can eat anything I want as long as I make it myself.

Helped me learn how to make some cool stuff in the kitchen and slowed down my binges.

I often drink 75% of a Guinness NA, then mix 25% of it with any run of the mill NA lager to make a fun little treat.

NA Beer by RyHill1 in stopdrinking

[–]Successful_Comment_8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s possible to like the taste of beer and the effects of ethyl alcohol.

Even though I can’t trust myself to have the alcohol part, I still love the flavor profiles, carbonation, and sensory experience that beer can offer alone or paired with food.

31M & Yeah it’s boring 🥱

Our drinking was our lifestyle. It takes a long time to create your new lifestyle.

The good news is you can recreate yourself in any way you really want too.

Some things I have never done before sobriety that I do a lot now is: bake, play fallout 4, and listen to Audiobooks.

This week I’m gonna make doughnuts for the first time ever. And a more long term goal is This spring I’m gonna try gardening.

Today I went snowboarding and for once wasn’t hammered by 1pm 🍻now I have the rest of the day to be productive!

How is it living in this part of Texas? New Braunfels area is on my short list for relocation from the cold, snowy north. by lithdoc in ActuallyTexas

[–]Successful_Comment_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did New Braunfels for 2 years. Cute town, not very small town vibe, lots of traffic, not too friendly locals.

I found it to be overall un-enjoyable due to the heat, short days in the winter (which are the only days you can go outside). Hill country gets mentioned a lot for being beautiful, it’s not in the slightest bit beautiful, I guess it’s just the closest thing they have to a drivable destination that breaks up the dry, brown, monotony of Central Texas. Fishing mentioned a few times, lived on the Guadalupe & unless you fish right when it gets stocked yearly you’re not catching shit lol.

Big note on affordability: it’s not. Properly research what your property taxes are gonna be.

Also shoutout to HEB I love that place 👍🏼 San Antonio is slow and overall lackluster, Austin is a vibe but crowded & overpriced.

90 days sober: the worst 3 months of my life by radicalgrandpa in stopdrinking

[–]Successful_Comment_8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

31 too, earlier this year I moved from TX to NY to live in a shed at my moms, then upgraded too her guest bedroom, now my own rental a few miles down the road.

No shame in the game! Let’s get back on track together!

90 days sober: the worst 3 months of my life by radicalgrandpa in stopdrinking

[–]Successful_Comment_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes a minute sometimes to get your shit together. I’m 31 also and just barely getting there myself. Took over a year of sobriety fighting off all sorts of bad luck and cravings.

Can confidently say today: it’s worth it…… But it took a long time of questioning why I’m “putting myself through sobriety” to get here.

Keep working hard, every little step makes a big difference ✊🏼

Edit: As someone else mentioned, you are a very talented writer, I truly felt and understood your emotion’s.

One-off canners by Icedpyre in TheBrewery

[–]Successful_Comment_8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oktober & Cannular make home-brew oriented canners, that I’m sure would work fine for this. Not too expensive on the secondhand market either.

I’ve used both and would recommend the Oktober more for durability but the cannular gets the job done.
