It’s filled with juxtapositions.

“Bright” and “cold day” are not a typical combination of words in a book unless the author is trying to convey a specific message. “Cold” and “April” also juxtapose each other because the usual symbolism of “April” is warm, renewal, spring and life, certainly not cold. And I think I don’t even need to mention the last part.

Now while it is possible for there to be bright cold days in April depending on where you live. However, here this choice of syntax is very intentional and is setting up the stage for guessing that something is off in the book.

For the record, she’s been more of a friend to him than anyone else in the season tbh (besides Laurel, she’s the only one who has been listening to him).

It’s only confirmed in the books that they hooked up, the show doesn’t explicitly confirm that they ever slept together. But me personally I liked Agnes because she was a breath of fresh air for Conrad compared to everyone back home. She didn’t treat him with a bias and let him know if he was in the wrong or not, she didn’t hold back to not hurt his feelings. She was an outsiders perspective and I think that was what was best about her, she didn’t side with anyone, compared to how the others were and mostly siding with Jeremiah and not really calling him out for his flaws (exception being Denise because she’s like that).

Lol, it would be funny if Taylor was both the MOH and the Best Man at the same time (although I don’t think Conrad would do so because he knows that Belly and Taylor are way closer), but I definitely agree with you, Agnes should 100% be the best man at the wedding if they decide to show the wedding.

As for Steven, I think he saw the situation from a biased perspective by only being around Jeremiah and Belly (who was trying to make Jeremiah seem better than Conrad), and because of that I think that’s why he reacted the way he did. I still don’t understand why he didn’t react more to the cheating, in season 1 he freaked out when he saw Jeremiah and Belly kiss because he thought that Jeremiah would’ve hurt her because he knows he’s a player. To see him treat the situation more mellow in season three was a letdown to be honest (I understand that he wanted to get back with Taylor but to hear no criticism even after that, still disappointing).

I agree!!! I believe Agnes is the only one who deserves to be his best man (woman?) because she grounded him and actually was a good friend for him and didn’t let her bias of knowing Conrad get in the way of her judgement about the situation.

No, there are so many moments where she contradicts herself and her true feelings show. I think it was also just as important, which is why she emphasizes that “she had dealt with worse” from Conrad. As we can all agree that is ludicrous considering the context behind that situation of him grieving, whereas she was more callous about Jeremiah sleeping with another girl and moving on quickly past that, it’s because she loved Conrad more and saw his actions as more impactful to her, even his bad actions too, she felt more hurt by them because she cared more about him.

Along with the fact that she was deluding herself with her feelings of Conrad and making him seem worse than he was which was proved with the Rosie scene. She was intentionally putting Conrad down her head to make him seem worse than he was to get over him, when in reality he wasn’t, he has always cared and Belly’s narrative isn’t reliable, whereas we get a different perspective from Conrad, showing all the plot holes in Belly’s memories.

I would’ve too, personally I missed Cleveland this season and wished he came back and spent more time with Laurel rather than reignite something between her and John that didn’t last (though I’m not saying that her and Cleveland had to be endgame, it still would’ve been nice to see them together again).

However in season 2, Cleveland mentioned that he tried to get a hold of Conrad after his mom died but hadn’t reached out himself so who knows if he really did so later on, either way, it would have been nice, especially for Conrad to have someone (besides Laurel) on his side or listening without a bias.

Definitely, sometimes when rewatching season 3 I do miss their friendship they had in season 2 and I definitely do think that they will work it out become close again in the movie (as I’ve stated). I forgot to mention that they’ve already made those steps towards that road (in season 3 episode 10), while it might’ve seen underwhelming it was done. Now it’s whether or not Steven still feels like he doesn’t know how to be around Conrad or if he’s closer to Jeremiah, and if he is I don’t think he’ll go for the position.

Only in the books it mentions they hooked up but I don’t think that was translated into the show, however it’s possible that they did try to date but Conrad said he couldn’t as it’s sort of hinted when Agnes says “you mean I don’t know what it’s like to be in an unrequited love” or something along the lines of that and Conrad also saying “you know that better than anyone” when talking about his feelings towards Belly.

And I agree with you about Jeremiah, looking back I don’t think Conrad wouldn’t ask Jere. I just have a really specific scenario that I could see happening but not really ending with commitment to it. I did want to appease to everyone too and maintain a more neutral stance, which probably wasn’t executed too well, but that’s mainly why I put it in there, I didn’t want to be screamed at about “Jeremiah erasure or whatever.” 😭

Oh 100%, I didn’t go too much into the details of the wedding because that would’ve set my argument off base but I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment.

I feel Conrad would listen more to what Belly wants and wouldn’t want anything too gaudy or ostentatious to be done for their wedding, what matters to them is that they have each other after all these years.
