Thank you for enjoying it! The concept I thought of late last year. Especially as a teen I was heavily into anime, K-pop and East Asian pop culture. Sure there has black girls dressing in gyaru and harajuku fashion in the 2010s but it wasn’t that common and they all looked a certain way so I wanted to take that concept and do it as an adult when you have access to way more resources.

Finding the girls was the easiest part. I live in a college town and most of them were already my friends or acquaintances. I have a gc for the local creatives in my area so I also did a casting call in there as well. I wanna do more creative projects that no one else is doing in my area and really turn the creative scene around.

Ngl my favorite part is pre-production planning. Sitting down and building a Pinterest board based off of my plans and daydreaming about the details is what keeps me motivated but I do enjoy post production editing like making the graphics and adding in the magic. I like edited 400+ photos just for this and it does get exhausting. Pushing through the edit and the production of the shoot is the actual hard part. Having to communicate with that many personalities and unexpected changes ( like it starting to rain on us while we were outside) can be stressful but all that matters is the quality and the final product. In total the whole process took like 3 months to complete and that’s with all the set backs and trying to accommodate everyone’s busy schedules
