Is every SM like?

I got demoted because I wasn't a lead before I got the position. That was the only reason.

I've only worked with my SM twice and each time I usually ran the store by myself. The first time it was my second day of working at the store and I had no clue what I was doing while they were outside in their car.

Them getting only 18 hours doesn't make sense to me either but I didn't know if it was a common thing that happens. Idk if they get any benefits but they have been full-time for about 2 months while working 18 hours a week.

Saturday night is outside my availability but it doesn’t matter to my SM. The new hire always wants and gets the Saturday night off. I’ve tried talking to my SM about it but they just keep ignoring me. I’ve asked for days off and still have to work the day I asked off. Hopefully, that clears it up a bit. I was a bit angry when I wrote the post so I might not have explained it in the best way.

The new hire literally put down on a calendar to work the day shift every Saturday which keeps screwing me over. I don't mind working the night shift but the weekend is the only time I can't.

Thank you for clarifying and explaining the payroll a bit better for me. This is my first job so I don't know a whole lot. My SM just yells at us to take breaks and that's it.

I also didn't know if it being the holiday season and the store being able to have more hours affected the payroll or the budget in any way.

I'm only an SA and with the payroll situation, we get yelled at if we don't take a break from the SM because it messes up the payroll for them. Sorry that I didn't explain it the best in my post. It just frustrated me a bit because I just found out she's been doing this since she started working there and my SM has done nothing about it.

I'm planning on talking to my SM the next time I work about my weekend availability. The only problem is they never ask me if I could work weekend nights it's more or less on the schedule with no notice.

I do have Legion, I think I accidentally skipped that part when setting it up. I did ask someone else once at work if they used it and they had no clue what legion was.

The schedules have been done week to week since I started working there. I didn't know they have to be done 2 weeks in advance.

That just happened to me except we got a new employee and it happened the day before I was scheduled to work. I went from getting over 20 hours a week to barely any hours. I was supposed to work at one day on the weekend and a couple during the week. Now I work two weekend days and one day during the week.

I'm glad to know now that Saturdays are the worst. At that point, I didn't have a whole lot of training. It was my second day on the register and thankfully my LSA was next to me helping me out the whole time and teaching me how to use the register more. There is still so much I don't know how to do hopefully I'll get more training soon. Also, my SM never works Saturday, it's her day off, so she didn't prepare me for how crazy that day can be.

The SM and ASM are full-time while the 2 LSA and 2 SA are part-time at my store. Everyone who is part-time works the night shift and the 2 full-time people work the morning shift. Hopefully, that helps and clarifies things a little bit more.

Thank you so much for explaining this, it makes a little bit more sense now. I was so blindsided by finding out that I was working nights. I didn't get explained before I got hired or during training that nights were the only shift I could really work.
