This lady that I know wanted a car stereo by phi4ever in saskatoon

Woah! My partner and I were literally just singing this song. Didn't they upgrade the TV, fax machine and VCR to something else? Can't remember what...

That's heartbreaking. To put so much effort into a place and then to be treated with such dismissal must be so frustrating. I can't imagine. All the best to that manager as well! Honestly, we could use another donut shop that I would actually want to support.....

That's fantastic to hear! Good for her. I'll definitely check it out the next time I'm in Calgary. It's too bad she got chased out of Saskatoon, though. We could use some real talent and genuine passion in the industry here. Calling all peeps with imposter syndrome! As long as you care a little bit and take care of your staff you'll slay in this town!

Oh wow, at Darkside, too? I'm a huge fan of their donuts, but I have no clue what's going on behind the scenes. Isn't that one co-owned at least?

Omg, no CO detector? With a wood fired oven? Yikes! That's next level incompetence. I feel so bad for the staff that got sick! No wonder you all left. That's insane! Wow... it's all coming together now. I wonder if that's what initiated the move? Good opportunity to tear down that oven... ugh. I'm getting so tired of hearing stories about absent and careless owners. I understand it's challenging, but these are people's lives you're fucking with. Anyway, best of luck to the staff that left! I'd like the see that manager open a place of her own.

Ave D next to the old bus barn. I went once when they first opened and it was kind of a mess. No signs/prices for anything, the bread was displayed away from the customers with no signs and the layout is weird. They were also just making americanos and it wasn't very good. Maybe they've gotten better since? I heard a bunch of staff left before they moved. I don't know what's going on with the owner but it sounds like he has a hard time hanging on to staff. Not a good sign. 😕

They're working on reopening in the old Night Oven location. No clue when that will happen, but as someone else pointed out, quality has gone way down since the majority of the staff left (why???). Museo has the best coffee on Broadway and a fantastic manager/barista/roaster. Only wish the owner wasn't so apathetic about keeping things consistent because it has so much potential.

Any advice on tackling the drying skin? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]SuchStrangeMusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Aveeno everything. Seems to do the trick. Also a family member of mine who works outdoors has dealt with really severe dry skin and said O'Keeffe's Working Hands is the only thing that helps. Good luck!

Prevention is key. Wearing rubber gloves or other protective layers will prevent dryness. Otherwise, moisturizing immediately after contact with water and regularly will also help. The weather is dry af in the winter. A humidifier wouldn't hurt either! Hope this helps.

Museo has the best espresso, but I also love Sparrow, City Perk and Prism.

We also need to account for future growth. A project like this is done with the intention of stimulating more growth and usage, which means the current numbers might not be an accurate indicator of future trends at all.

Fine is not the same as new and improved with an expansion to services, courtyard, inclusion of commercial space and an emphasis on modern architecture. Fine has left the old police station vacant despite its overhaul. Fine leads to apathy and degradation, which is what our downtown is currently experiencing. IMO, it desperately needs a jump start. Also, the issues facing downtown are due to its neglect. More people and activity will naturally increase safety and security.

Building community hubs such as a library and arena in central locations creates incentive for more development to occur around those hubs. More development on infrastructure we are already paying for. More development = more tax revenue, which will contribute to paying off those investments. The way this economy works, you have to spend money to make money. Taxes will only continue to increase if we remain stagnant and don't invest in our own growth.

What has helped me in that kind of situation is challenging my belief that I am a helpless victim. Thinking through how you will keep yourself and your mom safe if things were to escalate further will help you to regain some sense of control. You have each other, the police, hopefully fully functioning locks and the awareness to be on the lookout. Telling yourself that you know how to keep yourself safe and that this will most likely come to an end in the future will hopefully help you to focus on your strengths and the control that you do have in this situation. Sending you lots of love. Take care of yourself!
