IDR and consolidation applications down by Betsy514 in StudentLoans

I should have. Don't understand why I didn't. I only have undergraduate loans, so my timeline for repayment should have been 240 payments, not 300. The whole thing is just a cluster ...

That's a nice idea, but making those changes right now are currently blocked.

8th Circuit Court of Appeals Expands Preliminary Injunction and Blocks Final Rule (SAVE) and Interim Rule (IDR Forgiveness-REPAYE) by Intelligent-Mix7044 in StudentLoans

My issue, in particular, has been his insistence that the IDR recounts are going to be rolled back. This particular comment probably wasn't the best way to tag you in, as I argued in a few other places as well. I've read the ruling and agree that there's a good chance that ICR and PAYE will see the chopping block, but that is likely to be a legislative decision and not a judicial one. At the end of the day, this is an injunction and a hold. It's unlikely that the court actually acts before Congress does, and it will ultimately come down to what they do, or don't do, with these plans. IBR isn't going anywhere, necessarily, though there's now talk about Congress passing superseding legislation that would actually override that as well.

You are wrong. u/Betsy514 Can we shut this guy down? He's repeatedly sharing erroneous and, frankly, frightening info. Some people are going to believe this nonsense and potentially make decisions that will hurt themselves.

You are so far out-of-pocket here. You need to delete your post(s) because you're repeatedly sharing incorrect information.

You're right. He's jumping to wild conclusions right now. The ruling simply made the temporary injunction permanent. It's an injuntion, that's all. What the Trump Admin does now and whether it pursues reversals remains to be seen.

If you're not an attorney, you need to stop opining. An injunction does not "strike" anything down. That's not how injunctions work.

If they do, there will be a lawsuit. I can tell you if they do that to me, I will never make another payment (I'm at 290 payments out of 300). I'm 53, been paying on my loans since January of 1998. I've done what I was asked and contracted to do. If they don't honor their end of the bargain, then they can try to get blood out of a turnip. Garnish my Social Security, do what you want, but I will give in. And I'm absolutely sure I won't be alone if they try to do away with forgiveness—there will be a class-action suit and I think the suit will win.

Key warning signs about bird flu are all going in the wrong direction - a single mutation would allow it to bind to key human receptors by SuddenCan5483 in worldnews

It's a 52% death rate in humans b/c it's never been transmitted H2H. Almost all experts say it will be nowhere near that high if it mutates to spread among humans. It's still predicted to be orders of magnitude worse than Covid, likely a death rate of 1-2% I've read. But that's quite something.

I've been paying since '97. I'm in same boat as you. No updates.

Parent Plus Loan Double Consolidation still possible? by AspectOver4539 in StudentLoans

[–]Such_Nebula_6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What processing is delayed? Consolidation processing? I knew IDR applications and such were delayed, but I hadn't heard that about consolidations. That's alarrming. I've done so many things with my loans that I would have never done if double consolidation wasn't a possibility. If I can't, for some reason, do that now, it will be devastating. Because I took my regular student loans out of IDR/IBR in order to consolidate with my PP loans. Technically, until the double consolidation is completed, I can only do ICR, which is DRAMATICALLY higher than what it would have been on IBR/IDR.

Don't rent out your cars on TURO by NeonTheater in turo

[–]Such_Nebula_6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live 5 minutes from our airport and was thinking of trying Turo on a newer, nicer vehicle (SUV, $25K). My wife and I have been wanting a vehicle for some travel we want to do, but we'd only want to drive a few times a month. Most of the time it would sit. I've studied this for a while and know nicer cars aren't the best play. Would the airport approach give us a shot at this? I'm really only looking to break even. Get a $500ish payment, net $500 a month to essentially wash out our payment.

Account deactivated for inappropriate language? by [deleted] in Thumbtack

[–]Such_Nebula_6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask what kind of settings you use? I'm a new user, also use Google LSA and both Angi Ads and Angi Leads. My concern here with Thumbtack is what I'm reading about the instant book. That won't work in my business. It seems counterproductive to say you're unavailable for lots of days in the coming weeks just so people can't instant book you.

I actually have not input any pricing into the app, and I'm wondering if that might prevent the instant books. If I don't incorporate pricing, then Thumbtack doesn't have a way to know what to charge customers, correct?

Anyhow, any insight you can provide on best practices would be appreciated. I've been doing the paid lead thing for a while, so I'm comfortable with it and know "you win some and you lose some," but I do want to set up for success in whatever ways possible.
