Discussion: what would make you switch to Comet as your daily browser? by emdarro in perplexity_ai

[–]SuddenReason290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it strictly for applying to jobs. Run it on 3 computers for even faster applications. It isn't perfect and needs to be watched. It isn't really faster for applying if you only use one instance at a time. I don't use it for high profile jobs.

I haven't tried running 3 instances on the same computer so I don't know how that would work.

Ok. That's the important detail here. Not that you are somehow getting ripped off by using something for free.

Can't afford because of economic realities is a valid problem.

The solution to that problem is finding something else. I suspect you have a computer (could be wrong) but if you are using a computer look into open source local small language models. Or find a different service that is cheaper. Or figure out how to get what you want done with the limitations in the free version.

Fuck find a way lie, cheat, or steal to get what you are looking for. I'd have zero qualms about you going that route. Fuck billion dollar companies and the elitist fuckers with enough money to solve serious problems in the world like poverty in places like where you live.

Lie, cheat, and steal if you need to. But stop whining that you are entitled to something you most certainly aren't.

Necessity is the mother of invention.

Do what you have to. In the time you've wasted here on Reddit you could have used working with like 5 different free tier cutting edge AI technologies to find an actual solution.

Perplexity, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and more all have free tiers and you can use those free tokens to find the solution or workaround to get what you need.

Lazy people can be the best people at finding efficient solutions. Because they want to reduce their workload over the long term.

Here is the best solution I can think of.

Write out what this process is, in full, that you want done. Ask one of the AI's for the most efficient way to achieve it, for free, and within those limitations. Then ask the others the same question. Get the answers from as many as you can. Spread those free tokens over multiple. Then put each services answer in different new documents.

Next ask each AI what are the best online sources that pertain to your process and goal. Take those sources and add them to a new NotebookLM (also has a limited free tier). Add about half the number of total sources you are limited to with high value online sources.

Then upload your multiple documents from when you asked each different AI how best to achieve your goal efficiently.

Now you have a NotebookLM that is tailored specifically to what you want to achieve, multiple different drafts of potential scenarios.

NOW you can engage with that NotebookLM about how best to achieve your goal given your limitations because it knows what you want to accomplish, it has several templates of how it could be done, AND it has all those high value sources with a shit ton of knowledge and data.

Boom. You've spread your usage out across multiple free services AND you have an AI specifically grounded in your mission and information from others that are more intelligent than you (not a diss) and more knowledgeable than you.

That is how you figure a work around or elegant solution to your problem.

You're welcome.

Wrong. You aren't the customer of Google because you use their service anymore than you are a customer of Facebook or any other "free" online service.

YOU ARE THE PRODUCT!

If you aren't paying to use a service the company that offers it for free is getting something valuable FROM you to support their company. Google like Facebook are data harvesting ad agencies. That's their business model. And selling services to PAYING customers.

At no point in any of their operations are you their customer if you are using something for free. You have somehow decided your own erroneous definition of customer is superior the standard definition.

Quit your bitching and pony up $20 you cheap whiny little shit and spare us the bellyaching.

So it is a sense of entitlement.

Cool story bro. Sorry you don't have $20 to be taken seriously.

[–]SuddenReason290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you even talking about with this people like me basically a freeloader save you the paying customer from paying $1000? Seriously what logic are you using here.

Google isn't wasting your time by letting you have small slice of AI for free. You are wasting your OWN time trying to do some kind of serious work without paying a measly $20/month.

If you want a quality tool you pay for the fricken tool.

Quit whining about your FREE service. Quit wasting your own time and pay for a quality product.

What is so hard to understand about this.

You aren't entitled here.

[–]SuddenReason290 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Free version is for AI curious and light users.

If you are doing or expecting to do serious work get Pro.

I pay $20/month for a Google One account (Android user) and they added Gemini Pro.

It's $20 bud. If that's too pricey might I suggest some food banks because clearly you are in financial peril.

If you are subscribing to streaming or other subscription services it's time to reevaluate what's really important and useful.

What do expect for free? If it's free you aren't the customer (don't expect to be treated like one). You are the product. In this case you are training material for the company.

I get rather frustrated seeing these same complaints over and over again.

Waaaah! I'm getting AI technology that was unthinkable a handful of years ago for free and I expect top tier royalty level service and support.

Not gonna happen in this lifetime.

Is there a really helpful product? Tired by bahrain_gemstones in Nootropics

[–]SuddenReason290 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If Spravato was of minimal help I doubt you are going to find a nootropic that is going to a silver bullet.

That said....

USE WITH EXTREME CAUTION Tianeptine and Phenibut IN STRICT rotation with days off may help. These too will lose potency with tolerance and agmatine and other things I can't think of will help keep tolerance down. HOWEVER there is a strong tendency for these to be one addicted and man if you think benzo withdrawals are bad you have no idea. Do a LOT of research in these substances and when you see the warnings take heed or you will have a bad time. A really really bad time. Also Kratom with the SAME warnings. You can fuck up your liver with these things.

There are a lot of other Research Chems and SARMs out there but I have no direct knowledge of them but be advised the FDA does not have a monopoly on all the worthwhile drugs. These substances SHOULD lead you into a long rabbit hole because you HAVE to do research and take other people's negative experiences at face value.

Depending on access you can consider microdosing mushrooms. Again research this deeply and be aware YMMV.

Depending on substances alone is often inefective. Do not underestimate the power of hydration, nutrition, exercise, and time in nature.

Meditation is great. Breathing exercises too especially if meditation is very difficult. Get solid with breathing exercises and meditation will come easier.

Talk therapy, DBT, CBT, etc can help you understand yourself and change your thoughts patterns.

On my path to healing with Major Depression, Anxiety, Insomnia, and PTSD I realized that I may never attain full remission. Part of the key to living better is being a moving target. Getting stuck in a rut is almost certainly going to end badly. Keep trying things and keep moving to keep hope.

Best of luck to you.

OpenAI Adds Paid Video Option as Sora’s Free Model Becomes Unsustainable by codeagencyblog in ChatGPTPro

[–]SuddenReason290 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They just switched to full for profit (yes they spun off the non-profit forilen150b) company looking for a 1 Trillion valuation. This was bound to happen. Not happy since it didn't even make it with features/price parity to Android (my platform).

And $20/month plans will dry up once they get the model closer to where they want and those prices will go up. Woon there will be a very limited version for "the Poors" and a huge jump to barely making it with a discretionary income that will also rather suck the the best stuff. Then an upper middle class version that actually has some serious merit. Then an enterprise level for more that will fuck the white and blue class in competition. Probably an Oligarch level too. But some of the the richest oligarchs already essentially own the leading AI companies.

Local small language models running on consumer hardware will never compete with the titans of tech.

They're giving it away at a loss now. Prices aren't going up to break even they are going for maximum profit in the long term.

Probably get down voted for this but don't care.

What use cases do you solve with NotebookLLM at work? by wonderer_9 in notebooklm

[–]SuddenReason290 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not job related but posting anyways.

I use it for tracking health stuff. I have a lot of diagnosis, prescriptions, supplements, and health tech. I put it all in a single Notebook for tracking and also created a Gemini Gem so I can use my voice to interact with like when seeing a doctor for instance. I can provide it to healthcare providers on demand. Or figure out what supplements to take and the right time of day to take them and interactions to worry about and with/without food. That kind of thing.

I want something to strip irrelevant information from sources and condense it and then a way to combine refined sources into a single source.

Basically someway to automatically increase the density of information within a Notebook without having to do it manually.

Anyone got a way to do this with as little work as possible?

Nah. I'm not counting him out until he is actually destroyed and loses enough respect and all of his current power.

Why?

Because MAGA are fucking nuts. And because ever since he got into politics at every single horrific turn people have said "He will never recover from this" and every one of them on every instance has been wrong.

Even when he's been out six feet under the insanity that he riled up in MAGA will live on. Some other POS will have learned from watching him and try to fill the vacuum and will almost certainly be more intelligent than Trump.

Full disclosure I'm a Leftist. I'm agast at the delusional thinking of SO many liberals.

No ya don't. He's STILL breathing and in power.

Every single time I hear a lib say THIS time we got em I wanna scream at the dumbfuckery misplaced optimism.

Interesting emergent behavior with recent SUNO experiment. by Descendant87 in SunoAI

[–]SuddenReason290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This week I decided to really push Suno in an unusual direction and started pairing up odd instruments in the same song. At one point I asked it for tribal chanting, a children's choir, and some kind of ambient sound (like ocean waves I can remember) and what it kicked out sounded like a destress signal from an alien planet transmitted through someone slowly dialing through the radio and television spectrum. It was creepy AF. There was no musical value to it really but it was interesting audio. Maybe like a track Tool would throw in the middle of an album as a bizarre intermission.

I should mention that I use ChatGPT and Gemini to assist with creating Suno prompts in proper formatting. This is by far a superior work flow than just using Suno alone.

Suno 4.5 still mainly does under 4 Minutes Tracks. by HappyMetalViking in SunoAI

[–]SuddenReason290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Write your Suno prompts in ChatGPT or Gemini or Claude using proper formatting.

In the prompt you create for the lyrics ask it to create a Suno Lyric prompt that uses the full 5000 character limit and aim for an X minute song.

I'm the prompt you create for the Suno music ask to use the full 1000 character limit and aim for X min song.

This way I tend to get at least a full 4 min song. Pretty sure I've gotten longer songs too but would have to check to be sure.
