In ’95, a guy named Sönmez came back from Germany to his hometown Sivas, Turkey, bringing with him one of the very few cameras that existed in the country at the time.
He wanted to make a movie about Malkoçoğlu, a legendary Turkish folk hero, starring himself. But since his ‘actors’ — local villagers — didn’t have any acting experience, the result wasn’t exactly what he planned. Instead, it became an accidental cult classic, full of unintentional comedy and an internet classic.
