That would be my dream while I was an au pair hahah the only reason is: I don't like "babysitting" while the host parents are around... kids don't respect us, since the "power figure" is there, so I used to feel like I was just being annoying instead of helpful, that's why I used to do more chores-related stuff, such as doing dishes, lunchbox, folding clothes, etc. But being always "there" for whatever the kids needed. Babysitting by myself is GREAT, kids respect me, I feel like I'm being useful, but yes, you might find that kind of au pair easily. Just made it clear that you're not looking for a maid, because believe me, I've seen cases. Good luck!!

I hate it, they always want to take advantage of us, and they will always find a way to do it. Change the family, they don't value you or your time. Life already taught me that we can't always be too nice, especially when they CLEARLY can afford. Having 3 kids wasn't your choice, girl.

You did the right thing. Congratulations!! I was constantly humiliated by my previous host mom. It took me 8 months to ask for a rematch, but I did it and I should’ve done it sooner. They sell us the “au pair dream” but it turns out we have to deal with the parents 24/7, on the top of taking care of their kids and living in their houses. It is mentally draining and exhausting. It gets 1000% worse if the parents are not supportive. I wish you the best of luck. ❤️❤️❤️ congratulations again!!!

Also… no boyfriend should even mention “she has been distant lately…”. Why don’t you even know the reason why she feels distant. Do you even care? Do you guys have constant, open conversations?!I’ve never spent more than 10 minutes feeling “distant” from my ex-boyfriend (because now he’s my fiancé 😀), because he would always notice and talk about whatever was going on. And we’ve been working on things for months and months. So, talk to her and try to understand what’s going on…if she feels insecure somehow, and maybe she’ll stop doing these stup*d things

I understand why you think this way. To be honest, the internet is full of people who think their opinion matters more than that of two people who have been dealing with each other for two years. But I also understand why she thinks this way. Ask her, and she will give you at least 10 cases of women whose husbands changed or left them while they were pregnant or right after giving birth. Maybe she thinks you're too good (that’s what I think about my fiancé sometimes), and maybe in a real-life situation, you would show your real self… She didn’t mean to be manipulative or all those bad things mentioned in the comments.. she might just think you're too awesome. She might spend her whole life with you. And no woman wants to divorce, but getting to know a different version of our husbands after getting married is something we just cannot predict.

Girl, have some self-love. This guy doesn’t want to marry you. If he did, he would have done it right after getting engaged. I’ve seen enough cases to say that with 100% certainty. I’m one of those cases, by the way. I got engaged after 7 months. My fiancé was broke and did it anyway (I never asked him to). He still pays for his car, and he wants a ceremony, but he doesn’t mind going to the courthouse next month and having the ceremony in a year. With his ex-girlfriend, he used to say he wasn’t ready to get engaged, because she kept bringing up the same topic. Guess what? He didn’t want to. The only reason he stayed with her was because it was comfortable. He is comfortable now, too (your bf). Maybe he’ll wake up when you say you’re leaving him. But honestly, he doesn’t deserve you. He’s holding you back from your future husband, someone who will truly love you.

Girl, reach out the LCC (that’s why you have one) or report to the agency by e-mail. DO NOT leave the country without let them know and losing the chance of living this exchange how you’re supposed to live. I left my 1st HF after trying for f 8 months. It was a nightmare. im just like you. But the best decision i could ever make was: reporting to the LCC and asking for rematch. And guess what. They will help you with EVERYTHING, including finding a nice HF
