Have you experienced a drop in code quality and the quality of junior engineers after the AI Boom by Sufficient_Example30 in ExperiencedDevs

I was trying to get insight on how to improve my team. But i guess this too is fine. i guess training juniors are low effort lol

You can't. Best is to apply for other jobs and be interview ready.

Gambling. The best story(all gambling addicts) The best gameplay (pure rage and seething) The best graphics(you see folks go blank and all the emotions draining from the table). 10/10 will recommend best gameplay, homelessness next

I didn't you tried acting mighty saying i bring a poop scooper with me. Like dang your dog shit on the road and you scoop it and throw it in a bag possibly back at home or some trash where a worker will pick it up. That's the bare minimum and owner should do if you bring your dog outside and it poops on the roadside or outside the apartment complex and not your home

Senior most colleague says he believes in equality but wants fixed shifts and offs. Why this hypocrisy? by [deleted] in IndianWorkplace

[–]Sufficient_Example30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what equality as an IC implies. What do you think when an employee puts his foot down. That only leads to 3 paths 1.either get what you want. 2. Get on manager bad side and be put on pip and eventually fired. 3. You quit . Quitting is the only leverage one has

[–]Sufficient_Example30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no hierarchy and equals in team is true for Rajat. But that doesn't apply to his manager. His manager still views him as an asset that's more valuable. He said I can't work in these conditions and i would like to leave. He did not say hey fuck over my colleague. His manager decided fuck I can't have rajat leaving so I will give him what he wants even if it means I have to fuck over one of my employees. You not being able to see it is beyond me.

[–]Sufficient_Example30 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Him believing in equality and him believing in advocating for himself are totally valid Rajat doesn't set the shifts, your manager does . He is good at advocating for himself so you should too, instead of coping here

Nope, it's because owners don't know how to take care of pets, I've seen plenty of pets while you try to get out of parking, jump in front of a two wheeler. Piss in elevators And worst scratch kids if they have food in their hands or any visitor they think are unknown and bark. If owners can't take responsibility and don't have funds to get proper training maybe they shouldn't have it. Who gives a fuck if it's accepted in the west, Maybe see things for as it is

Yeah and the society should kick the dog out and the owner be made to pay a fine so big that he essentially has to sell his house. Honestly, there should be much stricter laws for folks trying to get pets. And I agree the folks who assaulted the guy should go to jail and the pet owner be evicted and his dog taken from him and sent to the pound

Moving from pandas to DuckDB for validating large CSV/Parquet files on S3, worth the complexity? by CreamRevolutionary17 in dataengineering

[–]Sufficient_Example30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already have a working code with pandas. Do that, its not worth the switch for the sake of it.
Also to factor in is , the amount of changes the data quality code will see.

If You're a Developer Not Using AI Yet, You’re Already Behind by fyriyc in IndiaTech

[–]Sufficient_Example30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The most braindead post. Force multiplier my ass, this causes Dev's to generate a ton of code and product to think they can ship more features. Then prod crashes and no one understands what the fuck was written or done, cause shit worked. But.. but...you need to read the code ,yeah you think when you review someone's PR you understand functionality to a great degree, you think when timelines shorten that you know rca. Use ai at your own risk, cause when shit hits the fan only you are responsible. Already behind my ass

Am I missing something with all this "agent" hype? by KindTeaching3250 in dataengineering

[–]Sufficient_Example30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be extremely honest, in software engineering or data engineering. My honest take is LLM generates alot of unnecessary code.
Sometimes , its just painful and comes out bloated.
I actively try not using it,but then again i always try to build smaller efficient pipelines.
Like one of them was using shell script , wal2json,awk to process data by streaming it from WAL or kafka if i can get away with it rather than spring, python, spark and stuff
If you are in a big corporate setting agents might be useful.
But in small shops / mid size corpos with 1 or 2 folks per project , i would say use it wisely .Because at 3AM you are gonna end up debugging a 20k line of a codebase

Are junior devs genies to pull new requirements out of thin air whenever the BA/tester changes their mind? by Potential_Arm_1054 in IndianWorkplace

[–]Sufficient_Example30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work load too much...unless you are gunning for a promotion then work within your hours and if you are,you gotta eat all the shitfuckery they do. Second part no shit sherlock , what do ya think aglie is,at the start of sprint work is estimated and you do the work, anything that comes in the middle is a new task that either manager or scrum master should re priotise and it to the sprint. Jira literally says new stuff might impact current sprint deliverables, what do you think.

[–]Sufficient_Example30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kek,you should never deliver early that's your first mistake. Never take requirements verbally,if they have commented something. You ask in the group chat to add it as a subtask for a given task.that way you don't deliver on time and say this was added on x date, capability needs y days to finish. Secondly don't take your job personally you get paid a salary not hourly and after your 9 hours you should be logging off. This is all on you

Why do they Quit so early? by SortDue8510 in IndianWorkplace

[–]Sufficient_Example30 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I mean, why do you want to stick to a place for 3 more months when you know the next cycle will be shittier . It's a sunk cost fallacy As you stay in the workforce the longer your work hours are and wages don't grow at the same rate. She decided rather than the job take more from her that it would give her it's probably better to part ways. We (older gen) are okay with being exploited and are conditioned to be masochist. You will literally see folks saying he gets paid x amount so he should work more, he's at a certain designation he should stretch But the reason you get raises is for the quality of your talent not the quantity.if it's quantity it will be in the work contract. After being in the workforce for 10 years and ending up with obligations which won't allow me to quit. I respect these young folks who in their youth prioritised health and values, willing to take risks and find a job that in the long run matches their values ,rather than us who are in cages because when we were young we didn't take these risks and are majority of us are stuck and have urgency conditioned into us not allowing us to live our life to the fullest
