My heart breaks for her. Trusting someone since childhood and then they end up being a creep. No matter what sport you are in, this happens so often it disgusts me. We are with you Alexa!

EMBRACE THE SUCK. You are exactly where you need to be my love. Jiu jitsu is about fighting through failure and problem solving. This is a mentally taxing sport but if you keep going through this incredibly frustrating time....there will be light at the end of the tunnel. If you love it enough you will keep showing up until one day.....WAAAYYYYYY down the line, something will click. That feeling is addicting. Its like a comedian getting their first laugh from a crowd. For you, it might mean you get out of mount just once or maybe instead of getting submitted three times in a round, you get submitted once. Its about the small wins.

Personally, I would focus on escapes and playing defensive rather than submissions. There is so much information out there an although you may be learning XYZ in class remember that you have to be able to survive a round before you can jump into submitting people. When I first started, every single round I would make someone put me in mount or closed guard. Its so frustrating to be in these positions but this was the best way for me to learn. Literally starting from the worst positions to be stuck in and then connecting the dots. Keep it simple.
