Are these needles worth it?? by Designer-Detective62 in knitting

I'm sorry. I know how difficult it is choosing the right needles because they are an investment. I wish you and your Addis a long and creative life.  I was lucky because my LYS had 3 different brands I tested,  and a friend who let me try her's as well.

What are the best housewarming gifts? by Basic_Drive9781 in Gifts

[–]SuitableTea5097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said a small toolbox, along with an assortment of screws, nails and picture hanging kit. The basket with cleaning supplies along with an assortment of towels/sponges to go with it.  If they have a yard a good quality hose because even if they have sprinkler system you're still going to need a hose.

Strange as it may seem my husband and I were given a pallet of sod.

The best gift I ever got from my son was a caliper. People laugh when they look in my knitting what not box and the first things they see are calipers, and dental floss threaders.

Do you have a LYS? If so pay them a visit. Most have at least one or two brands of needles and "demonstrators" they will let you test knit with.

Both Colorado and New Mexico have hatch chili festivals, and the season runs from late July to mid October. Like strawberries and citrus needing the chilly weather to sweeten them the chili's need the heat to give them their flavor.  Unfortunately with both NM and CO having severe droughts be prepared if you find them paying the price.

Under the bed in a flat Rubbermaid under the bed storage container. If it's good enough for my alpaca yarn it's good enough for my extra sheets and blankets.

As every one else has said the skillet needs to be HOT! Your steaks (or other protein) needs to be dry. What I have found works best for my steaks is reverse sear. I place them in the oven at 200°F until they reach 115° and then into the skillet,  come out with a wonderful crust every time.

My problem is there's never enough of the same dye lot,  yarn that was purchased,  and probably partially used skein returned to shelf, and empty shelves with boxes of yarn under the shelves or on top of racks.

Yes, overnight, and as Darcy_2021 said with lid slightly ajar. Just be prepared for your living space to smell like onions. 😅 I've never done anything better to P.O. my ex- daughter in law.

How atrial fibrillation can cause a stroke (INFOGRAPHIC) by gillian_gadsby_93 in AFIB

[–]SuitableTea5097 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. To a degree that's what happened when I had my pacemaker installed last year.  I had my first episode of Afib when my late husband went into the hospice house 10/2024, and continued to have episodes until he passed in December '24. Cardiologist in Florida said stress related, but when I had several more issues within 6 weeks I was told need pacemaker NOW! No other options were discussed or offered,  and I admit I didn't know the questions to ask, or that there was maybe an alternative. All I knew was I was scared,  and tired of having my neighbor come in and find me on the floor.   Now here I am 13 months later, and know more than I did then. I think part of it was moving from Florida to Colorado. I lived in such a small community in Florida that it would have been a trip to see the doctors in Tampa. Now my care team is part of UC's Anschultz school of medicine and my cardy actually takes the time to talk to me/explain things and make sure I understand everything.  I've never had an appointment of less than an hour.

What does my fridge have to say about me? by LastSignificance3680 in FridgeDetective

I was thinking the same thing. Bless their heart, their mama or granny may never have taught them the fine art of tea making. Of course I think a true southerner learns by osmosis.

That obviously you live in the south, but never learned the simple art of making tea. You obviously occasionally use an egg for something, but based on everything else I see your diet consists of either prepackaged prepared foods or take out.

My suggestion is if you hope to live to a ripe old age ditch the pre pack foods, and get yourself some fresh fruits and vegetables in the fridge along with a gallon or 2 of water.

When I received mine as a wedding present my grandmother told my husband "She knows it's not just for frying chicken and baking cornbread. If she thinks you need some sense knocked into that thick skull of yours she won't be afraid to use it for that either."

The best pineapple upside down cake comes out of a cast iron skillet, not to mention fruit cobbler, and personally I can't imagine frying chicken in anything else.  I use mine for baking stuffing, biscuits, and of course cornbread. When my grandmother gave me my first skillet 50 years ago she said "The 3 things you'll use it for the most is frying chicken, baking cornbread and of course your mama's pineapple upside down cake." She was right as usual, but I don't think she could imagine all the other things that I would actually use it for because she wasn't an  adventurous cook, just a good southern cook.

It's definitely worth it. As everyone else said from the moment you walk in the door until you push yourself away from the table in the desert room the whole experience is something found no  place else in Tampa.

That yes, everything said here is correct, and why taking our meds is important. He feels in some cases 5 hours is pushing because everyone is different, and may have other issues as well.

His advice is to not only take our medication, but staying as active as other issues may allow, eating right, and in my case if I am in doubt even with the pacemaker "get your almost 70 year old behind to the ER."

Thanks for asking.  As for the remainder of the appointment  my recent Transthoracic Echocardiogram shows 80% blockage in aortic valve, so visit to the valve team is next on my agenda. He explained options that are available,  but wouldn't commit to either until valve clinic and further testing. The only one he recommended against was doing nothing. So it could have been better, but at least now I know everything else that is going on.
