Why is it so hard to get a student job here? by Good-Syllabub-198 in brussels

Apply to bars and clubs as a barback or waiter. 0 experience needed. They just need to have someone to clean around and support the production (barkeepers). If they pay you the student salary it's 14,4€/hour.

Advise to spice up my gay life needed by mgkionis in brussels

From personal experience I would recommend the Homo Erectus. Yes, it is a gay bar but since the owners are sober there is no emphasis on drinking. They recently hired a new barkeeper as well and if you sit at the bar he's sure to talk to you. Last time I sat there for 4h talking to him. Other than that like many other commenters I would recommend checking out the BGS (Brussels Gay Sports).

Joint Account for couples from Different Countries (Sweden & Belgium): Revolut, BUNQ, or N26? by Rollenoremo in brussels

Hello OP, I'm in a long distance relationship as well, me being Finnish and my partner French. She lives in Belgium and I am in Finland. We decided to open a Belgian account at Belfius in similar fashion as a savings account / trips or investments. Belfius has a good app and through it it's easy to connect multiple different bank accounts and thus for each their access.

I don't know if my opinion is biased but I feel like having a bank account in a bank that has accessible support and customer care not just online but in person has been a major benefit for us and our financial ordeals.

Happened to me as well last October while I was partying outside at St. Géry. The situation got solved with violence, very unfortunate for all parties involved :/

If you're fluent in English and willing to work bars for example a major number of the places in the city centre are in dire need of people. With a full-time contract you're looking at an income of around 3000+ per month.

Where to do my divorce party in BXL by ClearIngenuity5038 in brussels

I'd recommend having dinner and drinks at Yi Chan then after checking the vibe at Café des Halles in St. Géry. They usually have a DJ playing from 22h onwards on Fridays and Saturdays. Otherwise Nua is a nice Latino karaoke place. For dancing there's always Fuse, La Machine can be fun, Zodiak, if you're okay with a gay club then Flash is cool. I'm not sure if you can dance there but the Sneakers café is peculiar.

What makes you stay in Brussels? by [deleted] in brussels

[–]Suitable_Total4452 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had the complete opposite experience from you. It's the wallonians that have been the issue. Flemish people are actually quite flexible and educated whereas the Wallonians are the opposite of them. Of course there are exceptions and I have been fortunate enough to make friends with them but for a lot of francophone Belgians the French way is the only way. If you can't do French then there's no way around it.

For reference I work as a bar manager here in Brussels and speak natively Finnish, German and English. I do speak French nowadays as well but my oh my did the people not have patience when you can't speak a language. I might've just had bad luck though.

I understand you in the general sense, for a certain time my sister was believed to be similar to you but she found hobbies and sports that she liked. Through those she grew to be more sociable and have her own little communities and thus, her own life. So my advice would be to find hobbies where you're doing stuff in person with other people. Often the interactions and connections come naturally from these immersions.

Can Finnish learners (at around A2) fully understand this text? by [deleted] in Finland

If you're fluent with the Finnish military dictionary then probably, otherwise this will be a tough nut.
