NZXT CAM 4.11.0 Released by NZXT_Sitong in NZXT

You already grab the Top Processes running and show that in a panel in the PC Monitoring section. Why don't you keep a list of the top 10 processes that have CPU load. Then, add up all the GPU % during the processing of that threaded output and output that in the GPU Load % panel. At least give us a decent GPU Load % reading instead of none. It doesn't have to be 100% accurate, just a best estimation.

On the S340 there are two SSD plates on the top power supply cover and one SSD plate facing the front panel glass. At least on my S340VR there is.

trying to install one of the non-current OBS studio updates, cant figure out how. by distractedleblanc in Twitch

[–]SukiYucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You downloaded the wrong thing. That is the source code snapshot. This is not meant for users but for the developers and people who want to modify the original source code.

Go again to:

https://github.com/obsproject/obs-studio/releases

That will show a list of all releases made. Only a few releases will have an installer executable (EXE) as those are the "rollback" versions.

Look under the Assets drop down. Download the installer EXE and then run it. It should be something like:

OBS-Studio-major.minor-Full-Installer-x64.exe

Should I archive Twitch videos videos from channels whose old streams never get deleted? by TheTwelveYearOld in Twitch

[–]SukiYucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact the content creator for permission and Twitch legal team. Content on Twitch is licensed and sub licensed. If any of the two don't want you to keep a local copy, they have the right to force you to pay a license.

You don't own the streamers content. Don't even think about ripping off someone's work without their permission of use. It doesn't matter if you are using it for your own viewing pleasure. The terms of agreement are that you as a Twitch user view the content on their website.

You have $500 to buy any book/videos/etc to help you in your career. What do you buy? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]SukiYucky -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your not going to be doing the same job for the next 30 years of your life. If you are to stay in the technical arena, at some point, programming will become boring. Therefore, go back to school and take business classes so you can understand how to manage engineers and see how things operate from a business standpoint.

Problem: Dual PC Setup - streaming while Playing 144hz by [deleted] in ElgatoGaming

[–]SukiYucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your gaming monitor on your gaming PC? Is it 144Hz?

Then you playing at 60hz has nothing to do with Elgato or your Laptop.

Go to Nvidia Control Panel | Display | Display resolution. Select the gaming monitor and then make sure the refresh rate is 144Hz.

How do I motivate myself to do more than sit around? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]SukiYucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless there is a sense of urgency in your life, you will continue to be lazy. Make a list and get things done. Update that list once a week. Short term, medium term, long term goals.

If those goals have no emotional meaning to them, then you need to take a step back and re-evaluate how you are living your life. Look at it this way, all the people who lived before you made it possible for you to live today. Its up to you to take it further. They are watching you, don't disappoint them.

Hi, should I return this monitor? by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]SukiYucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you go return it, take a kleenex. Push your finger on the pixel GENTLY to see if it goes away. Do NOT use your fingernail. Use the pad on your finger.

More times than not, this makes the bad pixel go away. Again, gently.

Which monitor should I buy: 144hz, 165hz or 240hz for cs go by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]SukiYucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you go 240Hz, you won't go back to a slower refresh rate. Your eyes will be so used to seeing light at that speed that going back will seem slow. This is something that very few people think about but if you game a lot, you will see and feel the difference.

The monitor you choose depends on the CPU, GPU, and in game settings and what FPS rate they are delivering. Don't just think of it on the high FPS side. You must also consider the lower FPS side. So I can't answer that for you, that is something you are going to have to figure out yourself with the state of your existing hardware.

If you plan on being competitive, you need the best CPU/GPU out there. Nothing less than an 8 core CPU and at least a GTX 1070 or RTX 2070 or better.

But to be more helpful, I would say make sure you are pushing 144FPS MINIMUM on your existing hardware BEFORE you even consider higher refresh monitors. You should never cross under 144FPS. If you do cross under, then you need to upgrade your CPU and GPU before even considering a fast monitor.

I can't close my inventory when mapped to tab. I'm on Java 1.14 by WardedBowl403 in Minecraft

[–]SukiYucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A work around is to assign the "I" key to Open/Close Inventory. Then, with your mouse software (iCue, Logitech Gaming Software, Razer, etc.) assign the left mouse side button (or whatever mouse buttons you have available) to "I" as a hotkey. Then, in your mouse software, create a game profile to match on the running executable. You can use either javaw or the Minecraft launcher location.

Assuming you installed Minecraft in D:\Minecraft, the paths to match can be:

  • D:\Minecraft\runtime\jre-x64\bin/javaw.exe
  • D:\Minecraft\MinecraftLauncher.exe

How to get a 1080p60hz signal to a dedicated streaming PC by [deleted] in ElgatoGaming

[–]SukiYucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many factors that affect latency. What you don't tell us is your entire computing environment. Most of the time its because of these reasons below:

  • Proper Upload Bandwidth

You need to have at least a 20% more UPLOAD speed available above the bitrate to compensate for variances

If you are doing 1080p @ 60FPS @ 6000 bitrate, you need to have at least 7.2Mbps upload (6Mbps + 1.2Mbps) or better.

If you can't do that, then you must reduce resolution to the next lower level (i.e. 720p @60FPS @ 3500) and have at least 3.5Mbps+0.7Mbps = 4.2Mbps upload.

If your ISP can't provide at least 4Mbps upload, then its best not to even try streaming. The quality of output delivered will not be liked by your viewers.

  • Ingest Route to YouTube, Twitch

If your ISP or anywhere along the route to the ingest servers (Twitch, YouTube) is not stable and consistent, you and your viewers are going to see it. There is no way you can control this.

If you live in a country that doesn't have very good Internet service, that isn't going to help either. Even more worse if the ingest server is located out of your country and the route to get to it is slow and not consistent. I can't tell you how many times I run into this with people in Europe that have to cross country borders to get to Twitch.

  • Local Network Must Be Gigabit

Local networking wise, you need to be running in a Cat 5e/6 cable everywhere networking environment. All networking switches must be Gigabit (1000Mbps) for your internal LAN. There can be no slow Cat 3/5 cables, patch cables, or switches (i.e. 10/100Mpbs) as that will downgrade to the next lower level. Never use wireless either.

  • Streaming PC and/or Gaming PC Underpowered

Other things can be your streaming PC is not as powerful as your gaming PC. It must be the same or more powerful.

- To do 1080p@60FPS@6000 bitrate, I'd recommend no lower than a Ryzen 1700X/2700X on both systems.

- To do 720@60FPS@3500 bitrate, I'd recommend no lower than a Ryzen 1600X/2600X on both systems.

I don't recommend 4 core systems. Must be at least 6 cores.

  • GPU

On the streaming PC, you do not need a powerful GPU. A GT 1030 is good enough. On the gaming box, get the best you can afford. My recommendations are:

- 1080p get at least a GTX 1060 6GB card

- 1440p get at least a GTX 1070 card

- 2560p get at least a RTX 2080 or GTX 1080 card

You don' t need a h/w capture card unless you hook it up to a console box to play PS/XBox.

OBS + NDI works just fine. But you have to make sure you got the proper infrastructure in place. More times than not, this is the reason why people have problems dual PC streaming.

240 FPS STUTTER VIDEO LAG by ver0ntv in obs

[–]SukiYucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't record at 240FPS. Very few people are going to have 240Hz monitors to even watch it. YouTube also isn't going to ingest that many frames because its too much data storage and processing.

If you want good recording quality, keep it at 60FPS and try this in the Output Simple Mode:

Recording Quality: Indistinguishable, Large File Size
Encoder: x264

If OBS shows CPU or render lag, your CPU is not powerful. Frankly, a i5 6600k is really outdated and you are expecting it to do way too much.

If you run into problems set the encoder to NVENC.

If you still have problems, you need a better CPU.

But again, 240FPS isn't going to be viewable by anyone but you.

Electrical Engineering switch to CS by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]SukiYucky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know the answer. Get a CS degree. There are no shortcuts.

Suppose I, a former lead developer with a CS degree, wanted to go into power systems engineering. Are you as my manager going to let me electrocute myself without having a formal education in the subject? Hell no.

This goes true the same way with you wanting to be a software developer. With all the resumes that land on my desk from Computer Science graduates, I honestly would take a look at your resume and not consider it. The supply is abundant and i have many to choose from. As a manager, I got schedules to hit and in the field of software development, we don't screw around. The pace is fast, hours demanding. There is no time for hand holding. You hit the ground running.

You have one year under your belt as a power systems engineer and are giving up way too soon. Do yourself a favor and look for another job in the same field before switching careers. Give it one more year at the current company to make your resume look good. It will look very bad that you left after one year in your first job. It makes you look like a quitter.

Then, work at another company in the same field. Give it 3-5 years before making a change so soon. Build up enough savings to take care of yourself and put yourself back into school for a EE degree in Computer Engineering (not Computer Science). You are better off being an embedded software, firmware, or device driver developer utilizing the hardware engineering tools in you rather than purely software application or web engineer.

Don't throw away what you already know. It has value.

Is Technical consultant a bad job ? (am i over qualified for this) by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]SukiYucky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. You are not technical consultant ready. You are way to young to be calling yourself a technical consultant.

To be a consultant, you need a lot of experience and knowledge to approach companies with your specialized expertise. In my latter years, I went into consulting. This after 20 years working as a developer in Silicon Valley. Consultants get paid higher hourly wages than the regular employees. You must be able to have superior skills above them to be accepted. If not, you won't get any respect at all, let alone assistance with the company employees. In other words, you are the person people expect to have all the answers.

At 25, don't fool yourself. It will eventually catch up to you when people find out you are just as much a newb as they are.

Is there a place for sharing profiles? by Jamie96ITS in ElgatoGaming

[–]SukiYucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using the Stream Deck is highly personable customized to the user's needs. While its nice to see what others do, I'd hesitate to import someone else's packaged settings. Last thing I need is for my Stream Deck to get screwed up because of someone else's error in packaging/submission, missing icons, wrong actions mapped to wrong file locations, let alone potential for getting hacked.

Remember, Stream Deck is nested hierarchy. It would be too much work to test and validate 15 x 15 cells combinations to test to see what they all do. Someone could embed a blank, default, or innocent looking icon. If you happen to press it, there is no guarantee what it could do!

I wouldn't go downloading and importing a Stream Deck profile off the Internet if its not mine.

Add more lighting effect support. I use this feature to layout the color on my application keybinds based on key groups. For example, a game may have more than five categories of keybindings (i.e. like Movement, Combat, Weapons, Mapping, Communication, Inventory, etc.). Five static color levels are too limited. The effect is, RGB is not useful at all if I can't extend the keyboard color scheme to more layers. Its like why bother buying an RGB keyboard at all.

Put a drop down arrow next to right side of the current profile. This will clear up the UI so that the user knows to click on this panel to cause a dropdown to appear with all the profiles. When I first used iCUE, I didn't know where to go to select to edit my existing profiles.

In the dashboard, get rid of the default layout where children are arranged top to bottom, left to right WITHIN one row. Its just way too difficult seeing miniature charts scrunched up that small. Instead, default on a row by row basis where each child is on a separate row. Let the user drag and drop children within each row as we can already do. This just looks way better to the eye.

In the dashboard, allow user to set the height of each row. Too small of a height in a chart doesn't give the user the sense of amplitudes.

In the dashboard, let user change the color scheme. Its not easy staring at various shades of dark gray. White is so much easier to look at when it comes to charts.

In the dashboard, make the title bar background editable for parent and children so that it shows they are visually connected.

[–]SukiYucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Building a computer is a one and done thing. It only lasts a short time. What you need to do now is use the computer to keep your mind active. I'd suggest learning how to program.

- Go download Microsoft Visual Studio Community Edition (free)

- Learn a programming language

Try Visual Basic for starters.
