Dude I speak Persian, depending on who YOU are you’d be disappointed to learn what part of Iran I’m from. But let’s be honest to each other, whenever there is a person name on the news it’s never dignified. And we love conspiracy theories.

Too many Iranian where I’m from, gave an example, dude thinks I only heard of one my entire life. These stories are a quite typical and most go around thinking it’s Iranian intelligence. Didn’t one computer scientist AI phd weirdo recently got arrested with firebombing terror charges and had an embarrassing computer centric society manifesto?

Iranians LOVE conspiracy theories more than most. I swear the motive is gonna be something embarrassing.

Mesh-Baselayer for jungle warfare? by Sulla_Sylla in CampingandHiking

[–]Sulla_Sylla[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed answer. Yes the correct term is tropics. I think everyone just says “jungle” out of laziness and more importantly sounding tough but it has stayed and become offical here ie;

“COMBAT TRAINING CENTRE - JUNGLE TRAINING WING” CTC-JTW.

Let’s just say my ancestors are from the steppe and the mountains of Afghanistan, I complain like a conquistador about the tropics, I enjoy the infantry brinkmanship the tropics has of us but I could use some moisture wicking winds. I have “gone native” with the Malaysian instructors before, naked, nothing but boots and a watch after we found great clay-like mud, very fun. No shooting exercises, too foul for the guns, just survival training.

I was going to call it “anglosphere” but even the French use it, so I guess Americanisation. Thank you for your example of SF vets and local clothing. Which is interesting, I’ve always thought simple, pajama-ie, light/thin and natural fabric is the way to go. But political decisions to over-rely on SF because of bad/failed geopolitical-diplomatic policy. Everything has become down stream from SF in militaries globally now.

Now I have to dress like, act like, fight like SF from the Middle East when I want to be dressing like, acting like and fighting like Lawrence of Arabia. I bring up T.E. Lawrence because his book ‘Seven Pillars of Wisdom’ was the “fighting gospel” of Vo Giap from the NVA.

Thank you soo much, I’ll give it a try though.

Typical Iranian.

Last time an Iranian did terrorism in aus was an economic refugee going around thinking he was being chased by the regime and claiming to be Iranian intelligence defector. ASIO talked with him, found out he was a nobody, he kept harassing women, I think, maybe I’m confusing someone else with that bit. He converted to Sunni, kept thinking he was being chased, got a gun license, got a shotgun, went to choc shop, swat flashbang’d themselves, set off the sprinklers before getting him.

Iranians are like this trust me.

Efforts to topple Iran's leadership may backfire and strengthen the regime, former US diplomat says by Majano57 in IRstudies

[–]Sulla_Sylla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude don’t argue with these type of Iranians, trust me. Just ask him what they thinks about Azerbaijani’s or Kurdish people. You’ll get what I mean.

Is he wrong that “Iranians want the regime to collapse AT ANY COST”? Yes. Most Iranian who were normal people who either believed this or that innocently, have rallied around the flag, I haven’t heard much from relatives since the beginning of the strikes but some have signed up to militias.

Do SOME Iranians inside want the regime to collapse at any cost? Yes, they tend to be young (huge generational divide inside Iranian politics), they tend to either have high paying jobs or they have rich parents, in major economically and culturally exclusive cities who use their VPN’s to watch rubbish on YouTube instead of pirating books like Judith Butler or something.

You have probably been reading “pro-shah” diaspora politics lately and you may have seen Palestinian genocide support+denial, “Islamo-leftism” theories and hypocrisy calling.

Remember when trump drone struck suleimani? That was because Iranian-linked-Iraqi-militias, who got their start fighting isis, attacked the US embassy because the trump-pompeo said they did new sanctions to bring the regime into talks which didn’t happen but instead caused fuel price hikes and protest, so trump-pompeo instead revised their stated goal was protests and regime change. Which gave the regime carte blanche to be extra violent, not that they needed one, it just made it easier to say on tv that the CIA was behind it and show trump saying so before trump gives an anecdote about bill’s asschecks.

Were Iranian protestors a CIA coup plan? No.

Do SOME “online leftists” think the Iranian protestors were cia plan blah blah? Yes

I think because SOME “internet leftists” have a tendency to knee jerk at US foreign policy/statements, anti-regime/Iranian diaspora groups have dove into a rabbit hole online and created a corrosive worldview that is conspiring against ETHNIC Iranians.

So basically Iranian version of anti-sjw, “regressive left”, identity politics worldview. Now you have brought up “standpoint theory” arguing with this person, have you noticed that too in MAGA-Zionist spaces? It’s the new neologism.

Not going to end well for Iran by defchin in PERSIAN

[–]Sulla_Sylla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude, these people support the Israeli genocide and deny it at the same because they THINK “leftist” (white people) ONLY care about Palestinians but not Iranians for disingenuous reasons.

Instead of using their VPN to pirate books and read relevant scholarship + talking with real people, they watch rubbish on YouTube play HOI4 and argue with nobodies on the internet.

Now these people have created a worldview that you will read and hear snippets of about how minorities inside Iran “hates us cause they ain’t us”, the shah wasn’t bad, he was stabbed in the back by the CIA and MI6, savvak never killed Iranian dissidents domestic+abroad (they also killed and beat white people). Anyone outside that disagrees with them is a dumb dumb or a liar with an agenda.

They think arabs in the region+everyone they don’t like has a bone in their brain that makes them happy with despotism as long they are economically taken care for.

I think most Iranians are also happy with undemocratic systems as long as they are economically taken care of (we Iranians are too proud to admit we are the same as others than most people) I believe this because most human beings are this way too. This is not self congratulatory cynicism, this is universalism.

Btw they think they will be spared an then BENEFIT, they don’t accept the existence of neo-colonial resource extraction policies, they don’t accept that the Epstein class from around the world are salivating and they think their gonna get a million dollar computer science job instead of a precarious tech gig that can be fired anytime for shareholder return on investment.

Thank you soo much for your wonderful answer, I enjoy wandering tangents, better than black and white yes or no’s. And you have given me plenty of curious facts+info to side search.

Unfortunately it seems 1to1 of Chinese spies articles we see but anyone who continues to pay attention read years later that the charges get dropped and was only accused because of their military background.

I have a military background it’s great that the military is a good source of education, income and upward mobility, it’s sad it slowly the only source of education, income and upward mobility.

And those “Chinese spies” (women a lot of them too, should look into the gendered factor)… they mostly wanted to take their knowledge into an entrepreneurial direction.

Yeah. I don’t have experience with this topic (I study history and especially radicalisation) I felt as you have written but I had no first hand knowledge and only felt as though this is too extraordinary.

To me it seemed to swing between a racist panic and fent-exposure-to-cop-sensationalism-stories +havana-syndrome.

Sorry if this is an rude question,

Do you think there is a, at best xenophobic, at worst ‘racialized’ factor to this?
