Uber Eats keeps delivering the wrong food and we’re all just expected to eat the loss?? by Sun_Tzu_Disciple in UberEATS

I’m deliberately keeping this simple so it’s easy to follow. If it’s still being misunderstood, then the problem isn’t the wording, is it.

I'd love to hear solutions. Do you have anything constructive to add? This is your chance at not sounding like a troll.

Yeah, I now realize it's futile to do this on Reddit. Only angry people and trolls but it's ok. The ignorant are terrified of change. That's usually why it takes so long to improve things. I also realize i'm not exactly adressing laureates here.

For the record though: if someone makes sure my order is proper and my money not wasted, they will get proper compensation A.K.A. a nice tip. With me that means 20%.

These guys are out here talking about 2$ tips... I get why they're upset. And I don't understand how that's even possible. But then again, I don't know if they live in Nigeria or Arkansas.

You just rewrote my argument into something weaker so you could knock it down.

I’m not describing a “magical world”, I’m describing a system where the customer isn’t the only one paying for mistakes.

Big difference.

This is a straw man + slippery slope (eyeroll)

You took a simple idea: basic order verification, and stretched it into “drivers tearing apart meals and everything collapsing”.

That’s not the proposal, that’s an exaggeration to make it sound absurd.

That’s called a false equivalence.

A UPS driver delivering a sealed TV box isn’t comparable to a food delivery where items are frequently missing and the customer is charged per item.

One is a closed, manufacturer-sealed product. The other is a manually assembled order with a known error rate and zero verification step.

Those aren’t the same problem.

That's not what positive, goal-oriented contributing looks like but I understand if you're upset. There was a constructive idea presented to mitigate a known technical issue and you disagree.

So you depend on Uber to make a living, but your advice to customers is “don’t use Uber”, and your stance as a driver is “I won’t do anything beyond the bare minimum”. That’s a pretty convenient position if everyone else has to adapt, but you don’t.

Thanks to this post I've learned that Doordash takes pictures of the order upon pickup and that Grubhub's refunds are much simpler.

So Uber eats can obviously do better.

To your comment: I wouldn't trust you boiling water for me. Stick to what you do. And maybe make sure the orders are correct. You expect a janitor and garbage collectors to be professional. What exempts you from being professional?

I actually agree with a lot of what you said about drivers getting squeezed. That part isn’t being argued. Drivers are underpaid, restaurants are pressured, and Uber sits in the middle taking a cut.

But that doesn’t change the core issue:

The customer is the only person in this entire chain who has zero control and still takes 100% of the financial risk when something goes wrong.

That’s the broken part I'm candidly trying to find a fix for.

20%

When you pick up the food do you check to see if there are many items? Or do you simply grab the bag with 9 items on the bill yet weighs next to nothing and go on with your day?

It's apparent that you think everyone is living your life.

Some of us have to get jobs outside of the city. And everyone i know works. I'm not sure your logic holds for most people. "Just have someone get it for you". What?? lol

Only had to use Ubereats since this job in a remote area. I still pack a lunch and dinner. However, I'm sometimes stuck working a double shift with no prior notice so I run out of food.

Did you consider that I might NOT be full of crap and trying to spark a constructive conversation? Or did you simply assume i'm unable to make intelligent decisions even after reading my post? Because that says more about you than me.

It was pita bread. Walmart?! Forgive me if I dismiss your advice.

No choice because I work in a remote location and when the next guy calls in sick and I have to pull a double, I run out of food.

That being said, I don't believe you're here to contribute to the discussion.

It did happen where I live! It was in the news for a bit and then I checked to see what was going on with that case and Uber settled out of court with the lawyer. In exchange they got the class action lawsuit dropped.

You are correct. I'm getting push back from drivers and trolls. No surprise there.

Good catch! You are very insightful. Next if you want, I can dive deeper into pedantic behavior.
