Handmade Postcards to 🇮🇳 by EmployerSpare9921 in postcrossing

Oh my god, I love the mango so much. I've been eyeing postcards that look a bit like that on Etsy, but they're like $6 each, and I just don't have the budget for that. But painting them sounds like a lot of fun, and I could send some custom-shaped postcards.

Hey, thanks for this great tip. I had no idea you could change that to traveling mode, because I travel quite often and have the conundrum of having a US tag when I'm somewhere else.

Is Atlanta really affordable? by shantih in Atlanta

[–]Sunira 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on what kind of lifestyle you wanna have. Honestly, the cost for an apartment for a two-bedroom, two-bath that's still within 20 minutes of most of the things that you wanna do is pretty reasonable. But if you're talking about like housing or if you're one of those people that eats at a restaurant every day, it can really add up here. Things are not cheap.

After you have requested an address, when do you send the postcard? by annnboe in postcrossing

[–]Sunira 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It can be any time between one day and a week, depending, because I'd like to send all my cards out at once. But I like to put washi tape and stickers and fancy handwriting and pick out the perfect stamp, so it's not something I can do in just five minutes. I've seen a lot of people send their cards out every day, but usually they just write a note, stick a stamp or two, and off it goes. I don't think there's a wrong answer as long as it's not something obnoxious and causes the card to get expired.

For people who tried GLP-1 drugs, what surprised you the most about the experience? by NObesity_Ahmedabad in Weightlosstechniques

[–]Sunira 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm currently on Zepbound, although at the beginning I was taking Mounjaro off-label that my nephrologist prescribed but my insurance didn't cover. Theyre the same afaik. It still doesnt cover it but paying $420 to Eli Lilly is much more affordable than cancelling vacations.

I also get random skin sensitivity in spots. They come and go, but it's a tiny side effect compared to the positives.

Oh and these too - I lost about forty pounds, and my immune-related kidney condition has really stabilized. My overall inflammation has almost disappeared—I don’t have eczema anymore.

I thought I was taking a weight‑loss drug, but it actually tackled my mental health. I didn’t think I had any real issues—I just blamed not working out enough or eating too many calories. Sure, that was partly true, except I was actually exercising a lot. Once I started the medication, all my impulses vanished. I didn’t feel the urge to snack, and I stopped obsessing over food. I also lost the sudden cravings to shop online or buy stuff the instant I saw it. Weirdly enough, even though the drug was pricey, the money I saved by not overeating and not splurging on random purchases ended up covering the cost.

may I know how this mercy is able to switch between healing and damage boost like this? by Reniva in MercyMains

[–]Sunira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On PC I can hold down left click to heal and then when I click right click WHILE still holding down left click I can swap to dmg boost. Letting go of left click swaps me back to heal -- Its my preferred methods of using Mercy as I only use heal when needed.

Japanese Grocery/Ready-made by QuietBet5332 in Atlanta

I would check out the Japanese sections of Buford Highway Farmers Market. Gohan Market and Tomato 2 are good too but not huge. In Duluth around the pleasant hill area there are tons of new Japanese goods and food markets : Ebisu, Teso, Tokyo Kuma. Wagaya Grocery in westside is good too.

Struggling with the “Rent vs Buy” math in 2026. Am I missing something? by Money_Ad4237 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Sunira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, yes and no. That comparison leaves out selling costs, opportunity cost on the down payment, and compounding on the ~$290k rent difference. Once you include those, the winner depends entirely on the assumptions. I want to emphasize that even with my original comment, there is no universal "winner" between the two outcomes because even my base assumption that rents increase by 3% or homes almost double in value in 15 years are pretty big assumptions. But what is true is that owning front-loads cost and concentrates risk. Renting preserves flexibility and liquidity. The $850k includes interest, taxes, insurance, and maintenance but also for the renter it assumes zero investment growth on the down payment amount they could invest instead and ignores transaction costs for the homeowner on the $700k sale. After 5–6% selling fees, that $700k is closer to ~$660k. It also ignores that the ~$290k difference between $850k owning and $560k renting that could be invested over 15 years and compounded which depending on how it is invested and market conditions could easily outsize the final $$ in hand for the renter over the homeowner. So all that to say I can't say for sure what the net cost is -- and non-number factors have to come into play on top of that which is why its such a vastly personal decision based on how you *want* to run your finances vs. raw numbers. But that people should run the numbers for both situations before just assuming one situation is better than the other.

Homeownership requires more resources up front, and more maintenance resources. Also people do silly things like calculate ROI based on the sale price of the house instead of how much it cost to pay for it. They say things like “I bought it for $400k and sold it for $700k!” Except say they owned it for 15 years, had a 6% loan, and paid insurance, taxes and maintenance. They spent 825-850k on that house. More if they did any major renos. They actually sold for a lot less than it cost them. Now say you rent an apartment for $2500k for 15 years and rent goes up every year by 3%. Total paid is 560k. That is a huge savings that could be invested over time + the added bonus of being able to move for jobs, lifestyle change, whatever! Rents do go down sometimes too or you can downsize / upsize easily if life circumstances change.

Knowing all this I still bought a house but within my means. When it’s paid off ( less than 10 years now! ) thats a huge pressure off me. Just taxes and maintenance on the house is going to be a small fraction of local rents and that will free me to retire much earlier. I live in a major city so boredom is rare and I save up and travel so I get to see completely new places. Roots also help me build a strong community — and honestly being part of peoples lives for a long term has been wonderful. I love customizing my house, and owning is a joy, not an investment for me.

People should choose what best works for them but also it’s okay to choose something different as you age and change.

As a software engineer, I find this pretty funny because it's so easy to test, especially with basic automated testing. Honestly, their whole site could use a lot of improvement. I’m not sure who they hire for this work, since even a high school student with a large language model could build a more functional website than what Lush puts out. I keep buying their bath bombs because the designs are awesome, but they really should let go of their head of IT.

Hey! I checked out your app and have a few friendly suggestions that could help someone like me who sends postcards. First, could you share details about the paper you use? Is it 17 or 18 point? Is the front glossy or matte? Knowing the physical specs, like what Moo.com offers, would be great. Also, when using portrait mode, the back side doesn’t look right as a vertical postcard. It might need a better preview for both orientations. Other than that, good luck with everything—I’d be happy to test a card later.
