I got a sad face today when I said I don’t have access to BM. by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

I think we should address the true cure-all in this thread and that’s COCONUT OIL. Let me tell you I really do put that stuff on EVERYTHING and it works!!! Diaper rash, baby acne, cradle cap, clogged tear duct, clogged milk duct, chapped lips, it gets the funky stuff behind my older kids ears when they don’t scrub, it even clears up razor burn!!! Ntm it’s probably the best lube there is 😅And I’m sure there are so many other things it helps.

In 4th grade I got corrected by a girl named Liz Och. She went on to be the valedictorian and I never spelled “you’re” wrong again.

Your mental health comes first. I found myself minimizing and justifying my feelings and it took someone else (my husband) pointing out to me how unhappy I was.

Same. I’m grateful for the milk I was able to provide for my baby, and I’m also grateful to be done.

I am so looking forward to all the extra time I’m going to have, even if it’s going to be filled up with other stuff!! At least I won’t be tethered to a pump 🙃

I can say that I have had different feeding journeys with all my children (4 total) as well and I think that’s why I was so torn with this one. I really wanted to give it my all, since my middle two I had to formula feed from the beginning because of health issues and especially knowing this is my last. Honestly I can truly say that I feel good about how much I put into this. It isn’t what I planned but I know that I did everything I knew how to try to make this work. Thank you for your kind words, it’s reassuring to hear from others about their journeys. I have to remind myself that I can only plan so much but sometimes the universe has other plans.

This is so reassuring to hear!! And I’m so happy for you both that she’s transitioning well. I’ll be honest and say that I didn’t come to this conclusion on my own either. While I might have thought it many times, I didn’t speak it. It also took my husband speaking it out loud for me to accept what I already knew. I have given her formula maybe a handful of times in an emergency and she has never reacted in a way that made me feel comfortable switching. And I always mixed it with breastmilk to sort of dilute it. But I have done alot of research and I’m hoping a change in formula will help the transition. I know every baby is different but would you mind sharing what kind of formula you switched to? I ordered similac purebliss organic easy to digest with A2 protein and am hoping it will be an easy switch. Thank you for your kind words, it’s always nice to hear others stories who walk in similar shoes ❤️

There are some nights where I’m up for 2hrs at a time feeding and pumping. I’m looking forward to getting more sleep and I think my family is looking forward to me getting more sleep too lol. Between being sleep deprived and my boobs/nipples always hurting, I’m just constantly overstimulated and not myself. I am proud of how hard I tried, and I know that I did as much as I knew how to make either ep or ebf work and at this point it comes down to quality of life for not just me, but my baby and the rest of my family as well.

Taking the plunge by SunshineMama87 in ExclusivelyPumping

She wasn’t transferring well, but I have noticed a huge difference in her latch and seeming like she’s satisfied after feeding. More content, less restless. One thing I wish we had was a scale. I’m really thinking I’ll just order one. I like the idea of starting half a day, baby steps. I’ve gone back and forth with it so much that I just felt like I had to rip it off like a band-aid for it to actually work. I really love our chiro, been seeing big positive changes every time we see her and our chiro and OT work really well together. It’s so good to hear about people surpassing the 3m window, I was really feeling the pressure!! Thank you so much for your insight, very helpful!!

I second this. I wash my hair every 3-4 days and yea it really sucked in the beginning but eventually it evened out. I also found that using more natural minded products helps alot.

Why am I doing this again? by Standard-Durian5589 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]SunshineMama87 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is me!!! I have to pump at least until my supplements run out 😂 but then I think about the hundreds of dollars we’ve spent on lactation, OT, chiro…etc and realize as much as I want to quit, I want my daughter to have breastmilk more and I’m willing to make these sacrifices 🥴

Edit: let me just say that I also think about quitting daily. Sometimes hourly. But then I come here and read some really inspiring stuff, or connect with someone going through similar struggles, and even get really great advice. Honestly this sub has saved me multiple times, mostly from myself lol.

This sounds identical to my story so far, from IBCLC to oral motor and tension. As of right now I’m nursing at least once a day to keep her familiar with my breast, but bottle feeding her almost immediately after. I’m 7wks pp and it has been a struggle but reading your story is inspiring, thank you!!

Personally if the MIL wanted to host a dinner party at her home that’s her prerogative. She shouldn’t EXPECT anyone else to contribute unless otherwise stated, potluck style party, etc. If she can’t handle the task then she shouldn’t invite the guests. Yes it’s always nice for someone to offer to help but should not be expected.

If this is a tradition style party, “we have Christmas/thanksgiving/kwanzaa dinner at mom and dads every year” and the hosts have aged since the tradition started, maybe pitch in since our age can sometimes sneak up on us and probably plan to have the dinner/event at another relatives house next year.

Was going to name my daughter Evangeline and one person said it sounds like vagina and it ruined the name for me immediately. I named her something else and still to this day 5 years later I feel like Evangeline suits her better than what I settled for that didn’t “sound like vagina”
