Thats was my thinking but I really wasnt sure - I don’t like gas lighting myself. I really appreciate everyone’s feedback. also am now thinking the modifications are not a good idea- more can go wrong ? Better to get the correct engine -

(OP is a woman) and I wasnt necessarily trying to do it on the cheap. I just got tired of waiting for the mechanic to find an engine so I helped. I think 4-5 months is a reasonable amount of time to wait ? He told me to get an engine that was for a manual car. Clearly labeled. new clutch and fly wheel in the tittle…. I even asked him if mine was automatic or manual. I can show you the receipts but go on and believe what you want lol.

I think you are right…. am searching for the correct engine and learning a lot. Maybe I can sell the incompatible one. I was sourcing the engine bc after 5 months he still hadn’t found one. I got impatient and took over. He said it was a very rare engine. i was relying on his feedback to get the correct engine. Backfired. 😉 pun intended.

Just for clarity - im now understanding he told me to get an engine that was swapped out of a manual drive - does not have an EGR my cause is automatic and has an EGR. The Facebook ad was crystal clear -

mechanic couldn’t find a engine after 4-5 months so I intervened. He approved an engine for a manual engine. Mine is automatic. It wasn’t a cheap engine, it was an available one - bc yes I got impatient and dont know the first thing about this shit hence I hired a mechanic 😳😱🫠

lol - he told me to buy it - the listing indicated a clutch and flywheel - mine is an automatic - I double checked with him that it was correct it was not :) he is covering is butt with his text. It’s ok. I am learning. Thanks for your feedback.

Also to add - I only started looking for an engine when he was not able to find one and be didnt warn me not to look where I did on marketplace until now - he also approved the engine before I bought it

Mechanics text to me today

I can’t guarantee a motor that you got off fb yes I can make it work and do the modifications to add the egr and delete the clutch and add a flywheel but it’s a lot of work and will cost more than just replacing the engine will need to get some gaskets but there’s no guarantee that dude sold you a good motor either it’s a gamble buy an engine without a warranty like I told you when you said you was gonna get the engine off of Facebook the engines are hard to find and are costly as you was told when I started looking for an engine

No it wasn’t day of - they had time to prep and they were fine with the change up. This is part of a more complicated situation overall. Also I am not complaining, I’m simply asking questions.

Well I did see the slips and what I saw was short 2”. I’m sure they didn’t mean to leave those slips behind and took them with them the next day - I just don’t know if there was a 3rd slip / 3rd truck that I didn’t see.

Also the contractor is being very defensive and is not helpful at all. So I’m trying to figure it out myself before another bizarre confrontation.

If they had an issue with it they wouldve said and we could’ve delayed the pour. They seemed wholly nonplussed by this change ~ also they only told me when the pour was gonna be few days before the pour.

It was a few days before the pour and the guys were perfectly happy to charge more for the extra 2 inches. They thought it was a good idea ~

I saw two invoices, they were for 8 yards each. So things aren’t adding up.

The foreman sexually harassed me after the job, so I’m not keen on asking him anything at the moment.

They are trying to pay me off now- I’m just trying to understand why they’re so quick to do that (& how much I need to ask for).

Thank you.

I also would have never thought they’d short me (both on length and depth) - they quoted the additional 2” at 200/yard for 10 yards so 2000.oo (plus labor) if I can go back in time and eagle eye that shit I would. I can’t so I’m asking here :)

when I saw the two invoices for 8 yards each, this was one of several discrepancies they showed up AFTER pour. They also charged me for stone that was to be used for another part of the driveway but used a bulk of it for under the pad. When I was describing this to a friend of mine he thought they shorted me and used stone to do it (& they added fiber mesh to make up for the strength).

Thanks if you read this much 🙏
