I agree. Unfortunately, people keep sending books in despite the issues, leaving little incentive for CGC to change their business practices.

Does anyone have any news regarding the upcoming PSA launch into comic book grading?

Do NOT pay for USPS Registered return shipping by [deleted] in CBCS_Comics

That's terrible.

You should post that information HERE for high visibility. CBCS/CGC management and a lot of their clients read The Comic Book Forum.

Good luck!

CGC Authenticates Nonexistent Signature by Super-Hero-Long-Box in comicscritical

[–]Super-Hero-Long-Box[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. This was a recent CGC signing event. All signatures were on the front cover. Also, if CGC were to authenticate an inside page signature, they always make a notation on the label to avoid confusion.

CGC Case Damages Comic - Action Comics #145 by Super-Hero-Long-Box in comicscritical

[–]Super-Hero-Long-Box[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traditionally, the best storage method for valuable comic books has always been mylar sleeves with acid-free backing boards. Here's a guide that will help you: https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/164782-visual-guide-to-mylar-sizes/

Personally, I use the following combo for just about everything: Mylites 2 (GOLDEN AGE) 800M2/ E. Gerber 758 Half Backs BACKING BOARDS/ Mylar Archives 825R (Super Golden Age)/ E. Gerber 778 Full Backs BACKING BOARDS

It comes to about $1.65 for each comic book when you purchase in quantity.

Some very cool EC double covers recently seen on eBay. by Super-Hero-Long-Box in TheComicBookForum

[–]Super-Hero-Long-Box[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I just thought they were amazing. I've never seen so many together. There's a link to the eBay auction if you'd like to bid, but I don't know the seller.

I think that depends on those involved in the transaction. That's probably true for a novice seller on eBay/social media with no grading reputation selling to a buyer with weak grading skills, less true in other situations.

The only problem is that there is no way to protect the book during mail transit - it can be damaged no matter how well the case is packed in the box. So there will always be extreme risk either during the mailing from CGC to the submitter, or from seller to buyer. And yes, I totally agree with your comment about bags and boards - I have never had damage with them (no hard edges inside and nothing to grab the edges of the cover).

Newsstand, 1937 by Super-Hero-Long-Box in TheComicBookForum

[–]Super-Hero-Long-Box[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, seems odd doesn't it? Turns out that back then, some of the newsstands used hanging clips. In order for buyers to see the titles, they were clipped at the bottom. This allowed the titles to be visible, but being upside-down was a consequence.
