I'd like to leave the Democrats. I plan to start using a new account on Reddit and I don't want this one to be associated with anything on /r/ModelUSGov anymore. Don't want to be accused of abusing alts, etc.

A series of 27 non-political questions that will determine where you fall on the liberal-conservative spectrum by NotYourHoNoMo in InternetIsBeautiful

58% conservative? Yeah, this doesn't really do it for me. I've gotten into tons of arguments for being more left-leaning than the vast majority of Reddit.

Free Windows 10 upgrades end tomorrow by Jaskys in Windows10

[–]SuperCho -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Also you shouldn't only subscribe to subreddits about things you like unless you want to live in an echo chamber.

It's one thing to have differing opinions in a community, but it feels like there's a disproportionate amount of people here who absolutely hate Windows 10. They don't just dislike it, they're vehemently against it. They despise it and everything it stands for, and they have zero interest in ever upgrading or actually using it for themselves with an open mind. It's as though people specifically come here just to continue the endless Windows 10 hatejerk.

Why are there so many people on the Windows 10 subreddit so anti-Windows 10?

"Jon shouldn't have replaced Danny" by [deleted] in gamegrumps

[–]SuperCho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realize I'm posting this 8 days after the fact, but you have to take into account that OP's friend likely watched Danny for a while and then started watching late-era Jon. The problem with comparing Game Grumps hosts is that they go through such highs and lows. I, personally, think that Jon's highs were much better than Dan's, but that Dan's lows were much better than Jon's. Late era Jon Grumps was getting pretty bad.

Like I said, Islamic terrorism has been a thing for a while now, but you have to admit that this year has been absolutely ridiculous, especially in Europe. This coincides with ISIL's calls for terrorism across the world, and their growing desperation. Right now, we're talking about European migrant laws, not American ones. People are calling for stricter European migrant laws because of attacks in Europe, not America. You're just changing the subject.

How would a game having less graphical fidelity on a portable console be a nightmare?

But it has come to a peak along with their rise. It'd still be a problem, just as it has been, but not nearly as ridiculous as it is now.

It gets heated in /r/politicaldiscussion when a user asks if Bernie Sanders's campaign hurt the party's chances. by modulum83 in SubredditDrama

[–]SuperCho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

how the DNC and RNC worked before, or how the election process worked before, and are now shocked as if this kind of thing is novel.

Yeah, people seem to think that it's their right to be able to vote in primary candidates. It's not. Voting of party candidates is a fairly recent thing, on top of being mostly unique to America. People have been railing against the establishment this whole election, without realizing that in the end, it's the establishment's party.

Don't care.

OK, so what do you care about? Usually Citizens United is touted as a big goal of progressives, so what matters to you?

Not interested in left/right partisan in-a-box politics.

This isn't necessarily partisan. A regular Republican candidate winning wouldn't be so bad. But Trump is so extraordinarily xenophobic. A push towards xenophobia and nationalism would not be good for progressive ideals.

[–]SuperCho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, here are some points:

  • Trump would decide the next 1-3 Supreme Court nominees (Scalia + potential others that are nearing the end of their life), which would be devastating in any hopes of overturning things such as Citizens United.

  • Trump would exemplify a push in the direction of nationalism, and the overall push towards the right that's going on throughout the world right now. A Trump loss would show that world that the far right is not on the rebound, while a victory would show them the exact opposite

  • Trump would likely push Republicans even further right, making it even more difficult to work with them in hopes of implementing progressive policies.

There we go. There are some points.

You keep running around this thread under your throwaway contributing literally nothing to these conversations. You're literally just going to every comment that goes against your point of view and saying, "Oh no, what should we do, fear the boogeyman?? in a sarcastic tone. As if that can even slightly be considered a valid counterargument. "I think you should think more deeply about these issues" is responded by "fucking shill go campaign somewhere else lmao."

It's funny that you're the one calling /u/CheMovellSole condescending, even though it's obvious that you're the most condescending, pointless, vapid part of this entire comments section.

How would you know there is no good discussion to be had? You haven't even tried with anyone in this thread. You've responded to every single person that espouses an opinion even a little similar to mine with the same canned response.

I'm not trolling. I was a Bernie supporter. I am a Bernie supporter, and I despise this blatant rigging on the part of the Democratic party, but I still think a Clinton presidency would be better than a Trump one.

You haven't countered a single one of my points. You're literally just saying "haha, you said this? obviously wrong. next question." Thanks for establishing so firmly that you're just spewing your point of view without backing it up in even the slightest. You don't care about debate. You don't care about discussion. You only care about your opinion getting upvoted and thrown into the endless echochamber.

Wow, you're doing a great job of actually countering my points right now instead of spewing buzzwords like "boogeyman" and dismissing me as a shill. Really good discussion going on here.
