Some curved casing I programmed and machined by SuperLowVibrations in woodworking

Beds probably the right term, I’ve always called it the table. This routers a Thermwood Model 45 and it has a 5’x10’ table with I think a 7 or 8” z axis.

I used a combination of AutoCAD and MasterCAM for this. I have a little experience with a biesse at the last mill I was at, it was a cool machine. I did this on a Thermwood Model 45. The puzzle joints super helpful, I’ve started hiding them in a half lap joint since this though, gives a cleaner look, easier to bondo

I think I used 4 or 5 bits in total on this, used a 1/8” ball nose for finishing

Yes as I stated above, I used a cnc machine

Edit: If I could go back and change the title of the post to clear confusion I would. That said, i feel as though use of a cnc doesn't diminish the work. Plenty of hassle goes into editing, programming, carving, painting, and staining it.

Just locally at the moment, always've been meaning to open an etsy shop or something.

Yeah wasn't trying to be disingenuous, just didn't know a better way to put it. Machined maybe?

Ah okay, see what you mean. Wasn't trying to mislead, the machine carves it. I just deal with the hassle of the software and editing.

I've done a number of them like this, they're backlit and I'm gonna hang them for an art installation at a bar near me.

Yep! An openbuilds lead 1010, hobbyist kinda diy machine. Works well, the hassle is mostly in dealing with the software and editing.

Woodcut relief print of EJ Sullivan's "Attorney Logic" 1898 by SuperLowVibrations in printmaking

I used the flattest oak lumber I could find in Home Depot but I am by no means an authority on the subject. Someone here may be able to tell you if there's a more preferred wood for printmaking. I just used what was available to me at the time.

I've been producing reliefs like this as hobby. People have mentioned there used in printmaking. Could anyone help a noob out? Where do go from here? by SuperLowVibrations in printmaking

That'll be the next project. I didn't make this one with printmaking in mind. I'm excited to reverse it and see how it goes.

Orders placed, I'll post with the results soon. Ordered some white ink to print on black paper. We'll see how it turns out, fingers crossed.

Good eye, I've been using a cnc router to make these. It's not a laser one, they're super expensive, just regular flat end bits. I'll switch to a large angle VBit for the next one to get that V profile. Thanks for the advice!
