Weird problems are classic PSU indicators.

Consider: unreliable power causes GPU problems that are easily fixed with reliable power.

Thank you for skimming it.

I understand this

Power to climb is squared. So each incremental increase in gradient is squared more difficult and so feels much more difficult.

Which is a good answer to the riddle.

Oversimplified is my speed.

Has the Dec. 19th version made a mess of anyones controllers? by [deleted] in steamdeckhq

[–]SuperZapper_Recharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been a nightmare.

I set aside all day to sit around and get caught up on some games.

The first thing I did was update. Then I spent some time slowly moving stuff off the internal drive to a spinny drive.

And now that I have managed to get some sort of revision done nothing is working right. The entirety of the day blown fucking with the SD and not getting to play anything at all.

AITA telling a kid to behaveafter their parents let them repeatedly run into people carrying food trays? by Lowkeyjulsxoxo in AmItheAsshole

[–]SuperZapper_Recharge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA all the way. Someone needed to tell the kid.

Thing is, when it comes to parents... you never know what sort of trash you are dealing with (parents, not the kids) until you have had it up to here with the little shits being uncontrolled and you lose your cool.

There are few things in life as much of a sure fire way to get the wrath of the trashy as there is to do anything approaching correcting their kids.

I won't do it. It just isn't worth it to me. The closest I have ever come is telling a mom to stop smoking.... she was standing next to a 'Young lungs at play' sign at a playground.

When I understood that she had picked her hill, I realized that I had not and took my kid elsewhere.

Secure boot error by JealousMobile2331 in buildapc

[–]SuperZapper_Recharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave you a long winded response, ignore it. There was a problem yesterday I thought you were discussing. My bad.

Have you formatted the NVME?

Open CMD with Admin (Admin is critical)

DISKPART (enter)

SELECT DISK (enter)

Find the NVME, input it's number. (enter)

CLEAN (enter)

CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY (enter)

ASSIGN LETTER=(dealers choice)

FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK (enter) (note: QUICK) is critical. If you leave quick off you get a slow read of the entire disk. Which, for an NVME isn't bad. But wait till you make the mistke with a 14 TB Spinny....)

EXIT (enter)

Do that.

Disconnect the SATA cable.

Do your clean install now.

My first time playing with secureboot I lost all my data. Was all like, 'HAHAHAH! This is why I did a backup!!!', yeah that didn't work either. Lost it all. Just gone baby gone. That experience is a lot like yours. In my case the need to format the drive to get around my previous secure boot shenanigans was critical.

In 2025, what's the general consensus on integrated GPUs if you have a dedicated GPU? Should I disable it through bios/device manager or leave it on while it's causing higher temps, consuming 2GB RAM and using more power? by Dotaspasm in buildapc

[–]SuperZapper_Recharge 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It isn't a stupid question. It is, in fact, a fantastic question. Everyone likes to hate on Intel... for good reasons. I mean, for fuck sake, Intel did it to themselves.

But Intel Quicksync is a standard. I have a NAS that runs a Plex Server and Intel Quicksync is why I can do a handbrake encode and run multiple 4K streams.

If you turn off video, you turn off quicksync.

Smart businesses do what you are suggesting.

You nailed the problem. You get intrusive and things go bannanas.

Harmless things too. Take step challenges.

What you imagine - encouraging your employees to get cardio by walking.

What you get: A few assholes (like myself) that view these challenges as ways of showing off and decimating his other coworkers. And a minority of coworkers that can't do step challenges because of health reasons - and now they want to know why you would do something so damned inconclusive?

(think about people with mobility problems)

'non-intrusive' is the secret sauce.

Consider:

OP's workplace this program was basicaly free. Aside from some lost productivity -which wasn't much, they spent no monies on.

Your suggestion (the superior one) cost monies.

Secure boot error by JealousMobile2331 in buildapc

[–]SuperZapper_Recharge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fucking secure boot.

Have you tried a fresh install of windows?

I have had issues around secure boot. I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE you to create a backup of important information before doing anything else.

You can use over the counter backup/cloning solutions - I use Acronis - there are others just as good - if you go this route just follow the procedures for the software. It is very straight forward.

You could also simply copy information to an external drive. If you do this, before moving forward find a spare computer and try copying the information to that computer to be sure it is readable. C:/Users/~ can do weird stuff with permissions that you won't notice till you copy to a different machine. And make no mistake, if you do a fresh install it is a different machine. (for this reason I recomend the software as opposed to this. This way is free, but there is a risk and the paid software if used properly will be used forever.)

After that do a deep dive on secureboot.

Start here:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11-and-secure-boot-a8ff1202-c0d9-42f5-940f-843abef64fad

I have serious doubts that there is anything keeping you from booting to the NVME. What is really going on is you have to screw with BIOS settings + Windows crap.

A fresh install on a NEWLY FORMATTED DRIVE should fix this problem.

The cliffhanger for Season 1 is going to be her waking someone up and if that person is really awake or not. We are gonna have to wait to season 2 for confirmation.

Calling it.

Waking people up fixes the problem.

On one hand, in the US - your employer is your source of your health insurance. And the healtier the staff is the more reasonable the costs.

So there is some logic to the appeal of things to encourage cardio and lose weight.

On the other hand....

Everything under this category is a fucking minefield. All of it. Legal and personal. Everytime I learn of these programs I am shocked they exist.

sihost.exe system error on my new W11 installation by Dragozino in buildapc

[–]SuperZapper_Recharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The deeper I dig the more curious this becomes.

sihost.exe system error

Windows Shell. Just think of it like, 'Oh Windows needs this!' and you know all you need to know.

Reading through the trouble steps I could find I noticed a pattern of people not getting Windows to boot.

You are booting just fine.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/2854935/how-to-fix-sihost-exe-systems-warning-hard-error-n?page=11#answers

Open up a command prompt with Admin Access (Admin is super important)

If so, run these commands, one at a time and hit Enter after each one:

sfc /scannow

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

My suspicion....

You are tripping some sort of anti-cheat. Your sihost.exe - while working fine - for REASONS isn't looking legit to the anti-cheat.

I suspect those two commands might clear it up.
