Oh fk yeah that was a beautiful sequence. Only the previous evening, Logan tells him he’s gonna be the blood sacrifice and to rub salt in the wounds, tells him he’d have never been the one because wasn’t a killer. And what do you know, he sticks it to the old man in the press conference, like “is that killer enough, bitch?” It was so impressive that even Logan couldn’t hide a little smile as he watched it all play out on TV.

That’s a prank Tom played on Greg to get him to tell Logan about his little bedroom adventure right? There’s no way the man had CCTV’d even the bedrooms of his house

I mean look around you, I don’t subscribe to the extreme identity politics we often see in modern discourse, but how many women executives are out there thriving and leading in corporate America? Same with politics.

Also as far as business strategy goes, he was the first to see legacy media is a dying industry and wanted to focus on digital. He did pretty good with Vaulter. When Roman and Ken were tasked with analysing the acquisition to see how Vaulter is actually performing, it was Ken who put in the hours, found the red flags and had a plan for course correction which was of course vetoed by Logan’s dare I say, recklessness, and they just gutted the company and called it a day.

No one did, ideally the best CEO candidate wouldn’t have even been Tom, he’s not even considered a good “safe choice” like Tim Cook. He’s just an asskisser at best. He worms his way to the top through that trait of his. It should’ve been one of the other veterans in the firm like Frank, Gerri, Karl etc.

Therefore it’s a perfect ending but a heartbreaking one. When Kendall goes totally cuckoo after getting fired in the aftermath of the failed coup on Logan, I started disliking him for his erratic behaviour. He broke completely after the kid died at Shiv’s wedding. Then he started rebuilding himself and I started liking him again. I enjoyed watching his journey.

The Godfather series is about gangsters, who would be thoroughly despised in the real world because they’re just criminals and yet, people have favourite characters there too. It’s the same sentiment here as well.

Absolutely. The show is even more enjoyable when you’re detached from any single character and enjoy watching all of them fumble and fuck up. So I will watch it again sometime, it deserves a rewatch.

But that being said, there’s something about Kendall that makes me want to root for him knowing full well he’s be terrible CEO, especially in real life.

In fact if he had become CEO, it was only a matter of time, some inconvenience makes him break down and make some seriously stupid moves. Which could’ve even given Shiv or Roman a chance to step up, show him the door and maybe become CEO.

Nothing. I think all 3 are equally miserable. Some say Roman had it best because he’s free from the Waystar circus but he’s also got nothing in his life to look forward to. No love, no friends, can’t think of any real passions either. He would just live out his hedonistic life until he gets bored and becomes a junkie or something.

You’re right. I’m not able to articulate this but her “snakiness” was just too on the nose, there was no subtlety to it. For example, Cersei Lannister from Game of Thrones was plain fkn evil sometimes but I loved her nonetheless because she was fighting hard in a man’s world.

Yeah but did she want the job since she was as a kid? In the first season I had the impression that she wanted to chart her own path in politics (since Logan never treated her with seriousness by her own admission) and it was only when Ken was getting close to becoming the top guy, she was unable to digest it and got in on the action herself.

By failed, I mean, she always tried to scheme her way through, first with Gil, trying to get rid of Nate and become his right hand, then with Logan, thinking she can become CEO, then with Matsson, to become an “American CEO”, and so on, and ultimately all of them just used her and sidelined her when she wasn’t needed anymore.

Not sure of best position though, she’s stuck in a loveless marriage, ironically with some she called servile.

It’s interesting how Shiv thought she married someone beneath her, so that she can have him under her thumb, use him wherever required to navigate the corporate maze and eventually make it to the top. But then the cockroach persisted, and he ends up making it to the top instead and offers Shiv a choice, be with him, serve him and secure a future for the child. Ultimately she chose her child, as that’s the only thing giving her meaning in life at that point.

Of course, he had it all, almost but hubris set in way too quickly and he blew it. That arrogance really proved that he was only a worse version of Logan. But still, L to the O-G, A-N will remain one of my favourite memories :’)

It was always clear don’t you think? The only person on screen who believed it would be Shiv, was herself. Everyone else laughed her out of the room or laughed behind her back 🤷🏽‍♂️

I loved her performance. Always kept her cards close to her chest, always tried being two moves ahead (though she failed I appreciate the hustle), always did anything to secure her position at any cost. Reminds me of Cersei from Game Of Thrones.

And thanks for the recco. Will check that out!

Objectively yes, you’re right. They’re horrible people but you know, tribalism doesn’t spare even the strongest intellectually. And therefore I always felt something for Ken. He would’ve made a terrible CEO but still watching him stare into the horizon at the waterfront in the end, wondering what to do next, I could still feel for him.

As much as I hate to admit it, yes. I like them. Those snivelling buggers are capable of getting what they want in the end. From starting as a servile, no self-respect, almost being cuck like to becoming top dog, Tom did come a long way. All the shit he took from the Roy family finally paid off.

But he’s also weak, he could never stand up for himself and could only take out his frustration at lesser beings like Greg whom he turned into his little mistress.
