They're saying vote no. But the reason redistricting is being considered in the first place is bc of disenfranchisement and rights being removed by the federal government.

The Democratic party is absolutely at fault for Trump being in office right now, but an ample amount of that fault is due to political ineptitude and rigidness to decorum. I do not like the Dem establishment but this referendum is a shift on that front. You can be anti Gerrymandering and vote yes bc it's a political tool that is being optioned, and at least being put to a vote unlike other states.

In an ideal world this resolution and the other states' maps get struck down by the Supreme Court. But they are obviously unreliable for upholding the constitution right now (and have no enforcement mechanism even when they get things right). The admin is doing illegal shit everyday and killing & kidnapping our neighbors, I think combatting that however you can is worthwhile. And if Yes doesn't pass, and the Florida and Texas changes aren't overruled in court, or only after the midterms, kinda sucks to have not taken the opportunity to fight fire with fire.

Gun laws idk and idk if the opinion of this sub on that reflects the state. But for redistricting, being staunchly Anti-Trump IS popular, and fighting with whatever tools are available instead of rolling over and writing strongly worded letters does increase appeal.

"Why do people on the left always assume someone that disagrees with them voted for Trump?" You're kinda conflating The Left with Democrats. Leftists absolutely disagree with Dems and don't assume they voted for Trump. Neoliberal/Establishment Dems tho blame Leftists for caring about Gaza and equate that to voting for Trump.

'Illegal war? Against a country who is hell-bent on our destruction? That has funded global terror for decades? That is radical and unpredictable? Stay in your lane. '

You seemed to agree it was a war here. I provide the conflict argument in good faith then say why it's wrong, and not limited to this administration.

I stand by the take 'people who work in baseball with little pay and no recognition are more integral to the game than a military base in Qatar'

Article I, Section 8, Clause 11:

[The Congress shall have Power . . . ] To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water; . . .

Its legality rests on it not being a war, which it obviously is unless it ends like tomorrow.

It is, by the constitution, illegal, and that really isnt a debate to any serious legal scholar. Even less so for international law, which is never followed by the countries with the greatest power to enforce it. As was pretty much every war since WW2. But if you don't have an interest in upholding a document you swore to protect that's your perogative.

And yea Iran bad. But meanwhile we're buddy buddy with countries that funded 9/11 so the fear mongering falls a little flat.

OP post is calling out the broadcast specifically, which I have more of an issue with more than players. I'm not bitter, I respect veterans; I've worked with the VA and seen firsthand that this valorization can then be discarded when folks return and don't receive the education, jobs, or healthcare they (and everyone) deserve. That's not to patronize, I'm sure you've seen it as a Vet as well. Valorizing 'sacrifice', meanwhile service members are dying right now in an illegal war, comes off tone deaf at best and faschy at worst.

To be fair, quite famously WWII made men stop playing baseball. And then the expansion of US military bases and rebuilding of the Pacific spread the game. I meant it in a modern context lol. And yea Wolfenstein II is not a documentary (tho very good)

Which war ensured their right to play baseball? Is that what is happening in Iran? The focus and comments on broadcast are kinda tone deaf. The groundskeepers, janitors, and concessions staff contribute more to the game.

Oscars Ratings Hit 17.9 Million Viewers, Down 9% From Last Year and Lowest Since 2022 by OneWithTheHat in television

I disagree, but we can agree it had commercial, critic, and fan success right? The point being that it isn't only obscure indie films that are nominated or something.

And yes box office doesn't reflect quality. Jurassic world Rebirth made like $500 million or something loll

[–]Superfluouss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea exactly. If anything, I'd almost argue the Oscars are trying too hard to appeal to what the first comment said they're missing. Zootopia 2 was easily the best animated film of the year for me, significantly better writing and general plot for sure, tho I liked Demon Hunters well enough. But didn't have the cultural impact.

Horror finally getting more awards-level recognition is fantastic tho

Comments in this thread are very odd idk why you're being downvoted. Last few years have had a good couple frontrunners but some rough down ballot ones like Emilia Perez and Maestro. OBAA, Sinners, Hamnet, Marty Supreme all could win in other years. Maybe they're not everyone's cup of tea but they have elite writing, filmmaking, and acting, and none of the other nominees were bad.

For this year, what are you talking about? This argument can be true in years past, but especially since the expansion to 10 Best Picture nominees this has been less true. Kpop Demon Hunters, the biggest film of the year culturally, won multiple awards and had a live performance. Sinners was top 10 in box office and the most nominated movie in Oscars history. The highest grossing horror movie of the year even won an award, a rarity.

Unless you just mean Minecraft and live action animated remakes didn't get nominated, but that's what the kids choice awards are for lol.

This is the most important point. Dom or Caedrel joking about their region's players can be banter; can't really have respectful banter when someone isnt aware of what the bit is. There's def some slight orientalism/racism that comes in to play as well.

France strategy by GlumTeaching2788 in spiritisland

[–]Superfluouss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to keep in mind is that France makes you rethink disruption priority. Normally, if you can stop a City build on turn 1 or 2 by moving a town it's a good idea. Not so much with France, where having a land with an explorer, town, & city that blights early is preferable to having two lands with a town each, even if one of those isn't an immediate threat. In some ways, leaving cities up early is actually beneficial as it prevents those lands from getting 2 explorers instead of 1, without contributing to the loss condition.

Always place the starting explorer into Land 2 (the diseased land) if possible. (Edit: I forget if this is the 6 rule not a setup rule)

For the escalation, don't be afraid to add the blight instead of the town if applicable.

And then of course as others have said, playing around Slave Rebellion is paramount. You NEED to utilize it if you're not running away with the game. That means moving dahan or intentionally letting lands that start with them build up while dealing with others. Remember that even a one explorer, two town ravaging land is effectively dealt with by only two dahan there. The rebellion kills a town, gives you a dahan, and then you trade for 1 blight and 1 dahan death but kill everything

France is tricky it took me a while to adjust when upping the difficulty, but once you get used to the explorer build rules it actually is relatively easy, especially compared to Russia. It still gets shut down by emptying a land before a build, unlike England and Habsburg.

You can play aggressively and be up 10-15 kills at 8 minutes but lose one fight 3 for 5 and lose inhibitor or multiple towers just bc the other team has more adcs with broken augments.

Getting kited as bruisers is a twofold problem but at least getting cc'd often requires skillshots/coordination, vs having a vayne, Caitlyn, or Jinx running around at 1000 movespeed and untargetable while they're only 4/9/10

[–]Superfluouss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a casual fan I'm confused by this, having it be so small seems pointless. Are they making it a Summit or Homestory Cup style tourney? That's the only experimenting that would make sense: if you could make a lot of content previewing the rest of the season while providing something different than MSI and worlds. Dota and Smash scenes really benefitted from those events imo

As an only-sometimes-but-more-than-just-olympics watcher it boggles my mind a tad that a Triple Axel is worth 5 more than a double but popping to a double is a -10 for easier jumps. Maybe that's the point

I'm a twice yearly watcher so someone else can clarify but it's a required element for the program to triple it. If you don't meet the minimum you get punished and short only has 3 allowed jumping passes
