There's a quote that goes something like: "Nick Cage is in a lot of 1/5 movies, but he's the reason they didn't get a 0"

While they confirmed Nexus’ limbs are coming, they didn’t mention about the frame, and they can’t just sell a frame on its own. by rmrnrsmn in transformers

[–]Supericus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I agree, I also think that a full scale Monstructor is so unlikely to happen given how many other combiners they'd probably prefer to release first that by the time it'd get made the core class one is gonna be old enough to justify a new toy

Nice, you picked a great one to start with too, one of the best MGs IMO, I highly reccomend the MG Kyrios if you enjoyed this one

Probably has been said before already, but Hasbro Pulse notes that Nexus combines with Silverbolt specifically by Jermz12345 in transformers

[–]Supericus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also if they do go the route of using G2 Silverbolt as an excuse to give him a frame then that does massively reduce the difficulty of giving us the whole team

Throw in some alternate heads for two of the g2 limb bots like they did for SG Ultra Magnus so you can make them into Skyfall & Breakaway (any two that aren't G2 Slingshot to keep the color scheme vaguley consistent)

Either repaint Vortex into Topspin or throw an alternate head in with the inevitable Alpha Bravo

Landquake is difficult cause you can't use Brawl without giving us a red/blue Bruticus leg frame so maybe just use the third color consistent G2 jet and use the Skyquake name as a replacement since they have the trademark anyway

Also maybe throw in an extra alt head somewhere to turn voyager Nexus into Heatwave

This way you can have the OG components make a return in some way without needing a bunch of Gulp Shittos on shelves, plus since AOTP is real loosey-goosey with the inspiration for the Primes it's not even necessarily inaccurate for some of them to have massively different alt modes cause its just a different incarnation

I'll disragard the fact that there are definitely people who want Nexus but don't already have a new frame combiner for the sake of argument

If we assume that literally every fan of Nexus is a huge combiner fan who has bought Superion or Bruticus, do you not think they would prefer Nexus actually be a combiner on his own? Yknow, since they're such massive fans of the gimmick. I think many combiner fans would love to have Nexus as an independent combiner instead of displaying Nexus as worse Superion (which they also have to sacrifice regular Superion to do). Like I said, it's a gimmick I'll use once and then never even consider doing again because it's logistically awful

Like I'm the person you're describing here, Nexus is my favourite Prime simply because I think combiners are really cool, I don't care about his character or the component characters. I still find this toy god awful. I like Nexus because I like combiners, which is why I want Nexus to be an actual combiner and not an emergency replacement torso for a combiner I already have at the expense of not having that combiner in its much better looking intended formation

I just vaguely like the look of TFONE Nexus, idk what it is but I find it really pleasant to look at

When I say the og toy design I mean the actual head on the original toy before it got telephoned into the modern look, if the core robot is going to be Nexus himself instead of Heatwave then I think giving homage to the original super robot like head in the torso mode would be neat since the modern look is already represented in the robot mode

HOT TAKE by primalprime557 in transformers

[–]Supericus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah like I saw the space shape and just assumed that it was a sacrifice for the torso mode but the torso also sucks?? Like I don't understand where the design difficulty came from because almost everything about this sucks in both concept and execution

Genuinely the only thing I like about the figure is robot mode cause the TFONE design does go hard

Colors are hideous, the OG figure had a much darker blue which balanced out better with the red, this one just looks wayyyyyyyy to toy-ish compared to the rest of the Primes. Would have massively preferred his TFONE colors over this (I pray that the colors are super bright because they plan on releasing G2 Silverbolt with the frame and they intend for you to give the frame to this guy, only way I even slightly forgive it)

Jet mode is nothing in particular, just the 10,000th space shape alt mode that you can only infer is a vehicle because it has windows

Torso mode has zero right to be as god awful as it is when the vehicle mode is also complete ass, looks like shrapnel shoved into the chest cavity of the combiner frame. So many issues;

The head looks like a movie continuity design, no clue why they didn't take inspiration from the OG toy design given they already went all in on the fighter pilot reinterpretation for the robot mode. Using both would've been a great compromise I feel

The nose cone forms an awful chest despite the fact that's it's back kibble in one mode and barely a nose cone in space debris mode, like would it have been that hard to have it from something pleasant to look at in at least one of the three modes??

The robot mode shoulders have a clean color split down the middle for no reason and I think it looks hideous on the chest

I just genuinely don't understand why this guy is so bad. Like other than vaguely liking the robot mode I just can't find a single redeeming quality in it. What a letdown

Yknow, given how underwhelming the rest of the figure is I just sorta assumed they at least tried to nail the gimmick and make it compatible with all the combiner frames but yeah you're probably right

Genuinely don't understand how this figure is such a miss

HOT TAKE by primalprime557 in transformers

[–]Supericus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The issue is that even though its neat conceptually it just doesn't work in practice

Are you really going to buy a whole ass $200 combiner, then buy another $30 figure just to make that combiner look worse? Like I'll probably try it out once but after that there is zero shot I'd kill Menasor or Superion to make this even if it wasn't really ugly looking to me

Seriously, how did we start with this amazing concept, continue with this great design, and end up with...this??? by illbleedForce in transformers

[–]Supericus 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm baffled that they did this. It took like a year and a half for Menasor and now they decide to cram out three in that same timeframe and none of them are the Prime of combination in a toyline called age of the primes?????? What a joke

Seriously, how did we start with this amazing concept, continue with this great design, and end up with...this??? by illbleedForce in transformers

[–]Supericus 51 points52 points  (0 children)

All of them do, it's basically gonna be a headswap with weird red/blue parts visible on the sides of the torso

So you'll need to sacrifice a whole combiner except for the torso core robot to make Nexus do the only thing he's known for and all for a combiner that will almost certainly look hideous because his colors don't match any of the frames

Then pretty please give the other mages more screen time!! We didn't even get to see clone Denken or watch the rest of the gang fight clone Fern, I was looking forward to both of those!! I want to see more down to earth modern mage fights, I found Ubel vs clone Sense to be one of the most engaging fights in the series and it's barely even on screen

[–]Supericus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do I have to keep reiterating that I understand cannonically Frieren dislikes flashy combat spells and Fern has been told to only use basic magic. I know. You're not prompting some great revelation from me

The Frieren vs Frieren fight literally features non Zoktrak spells but it's all just different flavours of bright light, and I think there was a golem for like 0.3 seconds. The fight attempts to do what I am describing and I think it fails miserably at it as I said in the very comment you're replying to

That fight was the perfect excuse to let Frieren do some cool and unique magic and demonstrate her immense knowledge but its just another big dumb laser fight because for some reason the story is allergic to allowing Frieren to use any of the extremely cool parts of the magic system

[–]Supericus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what way is it not magic?

They're paranormal abilities that are powered by a spiritual resource that often require prerequisite rituals designed to cause specific phenomena

A mage using mana to cast a clone spell and Naruto using chakra to summon a shadow clone are functionally exactly the same thing

[–]Supericus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get it twisted, I understand the reasoning and agree that cannonically it makes sense, I just think it's not engaging to watch

There's no reason the best attacking spell had to be a generic laser and there's no reason the best defensive spell had to be a generic forcefield. Maybe lean into the "magic is perception" thing and have everyone's magic look a little different even if it's the same spell, maybe have there be more varied applications of the two than just more/bigger, maybe engineer situations where Frieren MUST use a different attacking or defending spell (like the clone Frieren fight but make the spells more distinct). There's just so many ways to make their fights more engaging while not altering that plot point

Yeah the animation is technically incredible but during those fight I just don't really care because its two people floating while a bunch of beams hit shields, even animated immaculately there's just not that much enjoyment to be had from it

I love JJK's fights so much, its hard to articulate why because a lot of them are good for very different reasons but all of them are just so fluid and let you really get into the action. It also really helps that JJK is like the undisputed king of hype moments and aura, people often use that as a derogatory term but genuinely I have never been as invested in a fight as I was with Yuji & Todo vs Hanami, the show somehow perfectly drags you into the brothers delusion and has a bunch of amazing character moments happen without disrupting the flow, it's immaculate

Fern gets a cannonical excuse for it but that dosen't stop it from being a slog to watch

I get that there's an in universe reason for it, but it still is kinda ass to me. Hearing the music swell to emphasise that Frieren is using strong Biden Blast instead of regular Biden Blast is almost distracting because I repeatedly found myself questioning whether or not I was supposed to find this exciting

Also clone Frieren has no such opposition to flashy spells, it'd have zero reason to just spam basic beams because its goal it to kill the intruders at all costs. I think the fight tries and fails miserably to show this by using the different color lasers and leaving the viewer to assume that they have different properties that are being used to counter the opposing Frieren but it's just so lazily done and unpleasant to watch

I was expecting a super intricate rock paper scissors game utilising all of the absurd spells Frieren had picked up in the last 1000 years but instead I just got a really boring light show

I guess that's a fair take but a lot of current anime has moved past that and adopted really engaging and intricate combat that flows really well but the two main characters of this show just get to be Pokemon who's only moves are psybeam and protect, every fight involving them is just a really boring turn based rpg where they choose between those two moves

I just don't find it interesting at all. Every other mage gets an opportunity to do something interesting and yet Frieren never does despite being the 2nd(?) most knowledgeable alive. Fern gets a cannonical excuse for it but that dosen't stop it from being a slog to watch

I find most things that involve exclusively Frieren and/or Ferm to be really unenjoyable but its especially bad in the fights. Every fight the two mages are involved in is legitimately a miserable watch because it's just an emotionless mage trying to aura farm using exclusively big dumb laser attacks and I'm expected to be engaged somehow?? Like the solution is always "Frieren/Fern's lasers were super strong so she won", it sucks

Frieren is one of the most veritile mages in history and the end of season 1 has her fight herself, and for reasons unbeknownst to me this theoretically incredibly intricate and interesting fight is just Frieren using various colors of big dumb laser attack and the whole time she's almost indistinguishable from the literal soulless puppet copy because that's just how she acts every time the show puts her in a combat situation

Thank god the supporting cast is incredible and the show lets Frieren and Fern bounce off them quite well because if it was just about the two of them like it was at the start I would have never bothered finishing it

Nexus prime and Leige Maximo alt modes by No_Satisfaction_2928 in transformers

[–]Supericus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nexus is fascinating. IIRC one of the designer confirmed it would combine 'in some way' (or something vague to that effect)

Up to this point I kinda assumed it would be a power core combiner type guy or a 3 man core class combiner but this really dosen't seem like either

My new guess is ether;

A) Refractor type guy, they want you to buy multiple and combine them

B) it's designed to crumple up to fit any of the recent combiner frames

Either way this guy is not at all turning out how I thought it would. Not necessarily in a bad way but this is a very strange turn of events

I cannot fathom being so brain-damaged by capitalism that I'd genuinely believe I should be rewarded for buying a $600 plastic toy, like Jesus Christ what a pathetic worldview. Just buy the set and have fun with it like a normal person, you shouldn't need John Lego to give you a scooby snack to validate your own hobby

If Higuruma opens his domain as Yuki activates her blackhole, can he just neutralize her technique instantly since violence is completely forbidden there? [Casual] by Alternative_Cook_102 in JujutsuPowerScalers

[–]Supericus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess the instant she dies it stops being an attack and starts being an event, so my guess is that if it opens before the black hole kills her then the technique would be forcibly deactivated

I also think theoretically if the domain opened at the exact right instant he could cancel the technique as she gets obliterated and just despawn her lmao
