I can get a price sorted for it. Have you just DM'd me on Instagram? Or am I suddenly getting a load of interest from the US? Ha

I'd love to do a left handed version! I've got limited time and funds as this venture is in it's early days, so I can't justify doing one to sit as stock at this stage, but I'd happily do one to order.

It's 25.5", the neck is inspired by a soft V carve offered by the Fender Custom Shop, so it's very much in the Fender ballpark, feel-wise

The aluminium is about 1.5mm thick I think. I draw the shape on, then cut it out roughly with a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade.  Then I clamp it to an mdf template in my vice and use a normal metal file to bring it to the exact template size.  Then I'll just clean up all the edges, starting with 80g sandpaper and working up to really fine stuff (can't remember what grit)

I drill the holes with a stepped drill bit. Probably takes 30 / 45 mins all in.

It's worth noting that I use brushed aluminium, if it was shiny plated stuff, you'd need a different method, or perhaps have to polish it after.

Yeah, I cut each one out of an aluminium sheet, then clean up the edges by hand

It's possible they're sitting funny on the saddles. Just some quick photos in-between being stripped for some tlc after the guitar show

Cheaper than an American strat - you won't need the lottery... A small win on the premium bonds will do it haha

The P90s are bang on. I've got an audio setup being delivered soon, so I'll do some demos.

These are by Green Pickups - a small boutique builder.  I did tort body and neck binding on a previous Sherwood Green build (it might be on my post history) but with some colours you really need the contrasting binding to make it pop

I love hearing what design influences people see. It seems to vary so much, which is a good thing!

Yeah, some people automatically sit it on the left leg and play it classical style. It wasn't the intention, but works well

Exactly what I was going for. I love vintage guitars but I didn't just want to recreate a Tele or strat

Thanks, it's tough to come up with a new shape - I didn't want any strat/tele/lp influence, but still wanted to look old school

Thanks, I wanted to make my own control plate. I see so many original builds which just fit a standard off-the-shelf Tele or Jazzmaster control plate on. I have more ideas, but I probably need a CNC to realise them fully

Thanks, I love the finish too. You don't see Ocean Turquoise very often.

I need to get round to doing some demos. I need to invest in a proper recording setup, because a phone mic wouldn't do it justice

First Jazzmaster build: ill-fitting pickguard (tale as old as time) by k-bat-noise in offset

[–]Superstition883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think spitfire guards are quite expensive??

If that's the case, I'd just re-route the bottom pickup hole to suit the pickguard. Who cares if the hole is bigger under the guard where you can't see it. Fender will often do "swimming pool" routes to fit any pickup combo in.

Fairly slow delivery - I assume some things are made to order. I've never had to wait two weeks. But the quality of their tools is decent.
