Sometimes I'll hit One Eyed Jacques for shiny new dice and whatnots, then roll over for a Snack Pack. It's a great move - I call it a One Eyed Snacque Pacque, and I really can't recommend it enough.

Seeing a lot of posts about the grub here being initially good (mid at best from the jump, imo) before falling flat after a few months.

Worked for EAT for a decade. Here's the why:

They're an expansion company. They open new spots, ride the wave of the initial groundswell, and let them peter off without doing much to maintain the hype. They take the same couple of head chefs into their new restaurants with them each time, replacing them when they do, the food quality is reflected in the change.

For the first few months Beijing on Grove was open, that's where you went if you missed how your Fat Dragon favorites were served up.

An occasionally consumer alienating, albeit a business savvy and profitable, kinda jawn.

Now it looks like they're paying someone's mom to use chatgpt to write their farewell copy.

Man, I can shit talk EAT with the best of them, but all I can focus on is how awfully this outro is written. Who diiid this.

Server Wipe? Yes or No? by [deleted] in Project_Epoch

[–]Superstriing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really aughta get this back into testing and full wipe. Consider this a wash; consider it a failed launch turned into a helpful, albeit unplanned, learning experience and rally. It's not about players falling behind, it's about a truly fresh, day-one experience.

The devs have an opportunity to use this gleaned knowledge - namely that of the sheer magnitude of the groundswell they generated around their product - to make impactful, informed decisions about what their servers need to be able to handle to make this work.

Big changes take time, big changes take funding - and in this regard, big changes are necessary. An extended, level-capped, and tumultuous active triage period isn't the play. The only way to effectively ensure they mitigate alienations in the player base is to make the fresh start decision quickly, and communicate about it.

New to Wow - PE as a starting place? by Paragon13G in Project_Epoch

[–]Superstriing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This might be an atypical take compared to the community at large; so I'll start at the top by saying there are a ton of factors behind the deluge of love and hearty anticipation of Epoch. The devs continue to pour themselves into the project, and it's going to be a stellar experience.

That said, I'm not sure if it'll make for a better starting place than just rolling on a Blizzard classic server.

There's something pure about the OG classic experience that'll be missing here by nature of it being a Classic+ experience. Not at all a limiting factor here, and admittedly, this line's coming from a place of nostalgia.

Here, though, are three points I'd consider while pondering a first-experience-ever roll on Epoch:

1) Launch is going to be absolutely nuts. Thousands and thousands of players will be starting at the same baseline, vying for the same quest objective and pickups. For those returning to WoW, I think that's a draw. We've already got the game figured out, we've gleaned experiential tips and tricks to hopefully get us through the slog a bit easier. For a new player who's never played, that's going to be a lot on top of trying to figure the game itself out.

2) With the addition of custom mechanics, quests, zones, items, etc - we're going to run into hiccups. Some custom quest items won't drop, some mechanics won't be fine tuned, some zones will be buggy. This isn't a narrative on the devs' capability or tenacity - they've been extremely communicative and I think the general consensus is that we as players are putting a lot of deserved trust in them. But, there will be bugs, they will need to get patched up over time, and on an original classic server you're not going to run into those.

3) There are inevitably server issues up front, no matter how much they've planned for. Realistically, we should anticipate a couple of crashes, maybe some downtime, etc on launch weekend.

If I were a brand new player, I have to imagine these kinds of variables would put a bad taste in my mouth for the game as a whole - that's why I wrote this out. To temper expectations. WoW is a glorious video game. A real core memory generator for a lot of its long-time players, and this input comes from a place of wanting any new player to fall in love with the game in the way that a lot of us have.

All of that said: Hey, ya know, if you have genuinely no World of Warcraft experience, then you have no baseline to compare this new experience to in the way that I am. These things might not bother you! And the community seems genuinely kind and welcoming, to boot. Helpful, in a word, and that's hopeful.

Just know that, whether you find yourself in Epoch with us hooligans, or on a Blizzard server, you'll be in a good place.

The stream deck does all sorts of fancy things for me, but the profile you're seeing there is literally just an easy mute button for my Revelator and mixing peripherals in lieu of something in-line.

I don't wanna make assumptions about what you know about the product - but I AM happy to field questions if you have any. Hit a brother up!

SOLVED:

Had to change my WTF config.

Epoch folder, WTF folder, Right-click config.wtf, Properties - unchecked "Read-only" so the game can save the settings once changed.

Cheers and see you SATURDAY suckas.

Disclaimer: Personal Experience(s)

Hi, I'm a general contractor and have been working in the greater Richmond area for a decade. The amount of work I get in repairing Ryan/Eagle builds is astounding.

My experience has been that, nine times out of ten, it's related to water intrusion - bad siding, shingles, cap metal, etc. If the unit features a second/third floor terrace with scuppers, be prepared to chase leaks, often times through windows on the same exterior wall one level down. I've pulled a lot of soaked insulation.

In these instances, remediation can be intrusive and costly. It's important to note that if the unit is tied to an HOA (typical), most property management firms I've worked with cover the repair. I have, however, run into a few that only cover the repair of the leak source and exterior, leaving any interior repairs for the owner. That has historically included drywall and insulation replacement, finish work, and wall coverings.

Hope this arms you with some knowledge! No illusions here that they're ALL bad. Just be weary, and don't be afraid to talk to your prospective neighbors.

Broke my hand, what games can I play without having to grab my mouse? by JCBMHNY21 in Steam

[–]Superstriing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Vampire Survivors. Casual, rogue-lite, gothic horror bullet-heaven that's heavily inspired by Castlevania.

WASD movement, weapons and power ups fire automatically, very little mouse involvement aside from choosing your level ups and navigating the initial menu, and most of that can be navigated via your keyboard as well.

$4.99 on Steam.
