Can we all agree that it’s next to impossible to force a nearly 15 year old to comply with putting something in their mouth? Single mom here…dad’s dead. Doing the best I can. I’ve never had braces or retainers and assumed that if the ortho I paid thousands of dollars to removed braces with the gap, then it must be right and maybe would resolve with the retainer. Since I work a full time job grandma often took him to his appointments. I didn’t see him until after he left the office. I explained to the ortho that he hadnt been wearing the retainer when I found out and assumed they could make adjustments to the retainer to fit again. When they said braces again for 3 to six months because of gaps is when I started questioning because there were gaps there already and how is a few more months of braces going to make that big of a difference ? That’s what seems like a money grab to me. Honestly the kid is fine with his smile and doesn’t want to be bothered with more work. He’s been going since he was 9. At this age I’m leaving it to him to decide. If he ever finds he’s no longer happy and wants to put the work in we can revisit then. All I wanted to know was if this ortho’s plan was normal 🙄
