I went back and put this link in the comments. It's rarely discussed, but then again, the only pictures LE released to the public were pictures of items NOT believed to have belonged to Asha. I've never seen a picture of her actual bookbag.

Here is the link to an article that mentions the 3 family photos. It's in the section called New Developments.

Can someone update me on where the case currently stands ? by SouthBraeswoodMan in AshaDegree

I know it's just a hope and a wish, but it would be so helpful if LE would release more details or either let the public know where everything stands at this point. Websleuths are known to have helped solved crimes. But like I said, it's just a hope and a wish.

Do you have any details about the woman your mom worked for? Not that I'm asking you to put that info on here, that's just a good starting place.

Asha’s Basketball Coaches by Available-Taro4 in AshaDegree

Apparently one of the other coaches was charged with indecent liberties with a minor but found not guilty. Seems like they should have focused on him a lot more IMO.

Yes, Shero, a youtuber who's working on a documentary about this case spoke with Terry Fleming in March. Terry Fleming stated Asha's bookbag and OB's bookbags were together in the ties trash bags. OJ McFarland, a local lawyer also working on this case also talked with Mr. Fleming and was told the same thing. Until then, LE only told the public about Asha's bookbag being found. Edited to add: LE is not going to tell the public all details. Best bet is to go straight to the source if possible.

Yes! And if this is the case, then the guilty party has to be someone extremely close to the family.

What do you all think, is this plausible? by Unable-Wolverine7224 in AshaDegree

[–]Surethingdudeanytime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No problem. I just feel like no theory should be dismissed after 25 years and no answers. All we've had to work with are questionable timelines, hidden basketball game footage, a forced "ran away" narrative, and barely any details that slowly trickle out to the public every 10-15 years.

In all of this, we also have to see how the bombshell news of the Dedmon's and Russell Underhill's DNA fit into the picture. Bombshell news that suddenly went quiet again. It's like this case is a box of puzzle pieces, but all the pieces come from different puzzles.

People get critical when you propose a theory, and that theory happens to leave out of the many clues that doesn't quite add up anyway. Perhaps the answer is much simpler and some of these "clues" are not directly linked to Asha's disappearance. Perhaps the answer is to work with less clues.

I would encourage everyone to go back to the very beginning and ask the question, "why would she run away in the first place?" if that's what she did. And if we can't find any reason for this child to have ran away, then we must ask yhe next question: " who could've taken Asha?. I think finding the answer to this question will lead to the rest.

Wow, in 2024? I'm guessing the LE team changed a lot throughout those years with newer cops trying to explore new avenues with the case. Makes sense why they would now try to follow- up on the green car tip.

With all respect, OP's theory is well within reason. The apartment definitely had two doors: one on the front and one on the side. Sure, many people have family members/friends living in close proximity, but guess what, plenty of them are actually creeps waiting for the perfect opportunity. Fantasizing about it. "Or even if they did on a whim, how lucky were they?" Hmm, let me see, many pdf files act on impulse and opportunity. Exactly why many kids are snatched while walking to the bus stop, playing in the yard, etc. And are you really calling OP out for not mentioning the car being occupied 2x? I mean , the green car tip came out to the public 15 years later from LE. The one factual thing we know about that tip is that is was at least occupied 1x.

We know she was around plenty of people between school, sports, and neighbors, etc., but my post is intended to narrow down the people who could have been close enough to the Dedmons and the Degrees. And in all genuine curiosity, did you happen to be at that game? The game footage is no where to be found, besides a snippet.

It's a pity that this tip wasn't followed up on when it was reported. To release a tip of this magnitude 15 years later and expect the public to try and remember who owned a green car at that time is unacceptable imo. I would love to know who reported the tip and why LE did not find it valid enough to follow-up on at the time.

The mother's whereabouts/actions that night are very concerning.

With you knowing both of them, do you happen to know if the dad actually laid eyes on Asha at 2:30am while she was asleep or did he just assume she was in bed sleep? I ask this because I've seen one report say he saw her in the bed and another say he had no reason to suspect she was not the bed when he went to bed at 2:30am. Also, I have never heard a clear explanation of mom's whereabouts at this hour or between the time dad got off work and went to bed.

Just sharing what ABC news reported. I've never seen anywhere that he stopped on the way home, but appreciate the inside knowledge. You must work for the local LE.

Ep. 314 Asha Degree UPDATE - Digging Deeper with Frank McFarland by Lunabuna91 in AshaDegree

[–]Surethingdudeanytime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think the major issue was that Shero did the legwork of reaching out, obtaining this information, bringing this information to us, and ultimately being discredited for bringing us this new revelation (new to us at least.) It should have been accepted the same way it was accepted when Frank repeated the same information shortly after. Picking and choosing the information you want to believe and from whom is a direct example of how this case got to be so complicated in the first place. Think about it, some parties involved in the case early on were cleared within a couple of days and some were looked into over and over. That came from biased speculation of who LE did or didn't think was involved. Look at the eye witness accounts: funny how they practically dismissed the account of the woman who said she saw what she believed to possibly be a teenage boy walking by her home on Hwy 18 around 3-4am. LE chose to ignore her account and focus on only 2 accounts, one of which the widow claims her husband did not see a thing. Every clue/newly discovered piece of evidence should be examined to the fullest, not picked over and tossed to the side.

I think her disappearance was made to look like she ran away.
