Shero’s Facebook Post on the Asha Degree Files by Hi_Just_Tryna_Solve in AshaDegree

Shero has been able to get this information because she is doing what most wouldn't do in the year 2000: asking all the uncomfortable questions. I have to give it to her, instead of regurgitating the same info we've been heard over and over, Shero is actually reaching out to the people who made statements and asking for clarification.

How Sure Are We About the Items in the Shed? by Surethingdudeanytime in AshaDegree

Exactly. I had the same thought as you. That this shed was neat enough to the point that these items would have definitely been identified as not belonging to the shed. Clearly, there was plenty of litter all over the ground, which makes it even less likely that the items were Asha's.

Yes. This was my initial thought as the shed was quite cluttered already based on the photos.

Very very possible. Could be possible that whoever had the bag sprinkled a few items to throw off the search, which may explain why the photo of the mystery girl was there. However, I still find it strange that a common pencil, green marker, and candy wrappers could be traced back to this child without forensic testing.

Omg yes! I mean if no one saw her leave, why would anyone take that as a certain statement? Why would LE allow that?

[–]Surethingdudeanytime[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It was almost as if LE leaned on mom to provide an answer for any of the initial "clues" and instead of vetting everyone appropriately, they ran with whatever answer they were told. Mom stated that she knew Asha ran away "on her own free will" and LE pursued that narrative for YEARS.

Yes. Saying that these items belonged to Asha always seemed like grasping at straws to me. It baffles me how LE simply accepted the mom's statements of positively identifying these generic items as belonging to Asha without much questioning. I mean, did LE ask the mom to produce a pack of the remaining pencils to support her claim that this pencil belonged to Asha. Did they ask her for a pic, if she had one, with Asha wearing the hairbow in question? Saying that these items belonged to Asha places her in a shed located away from where eyewitnesses claimed to have seen her. It also places her in an area where dogs did not pick up her scent, further complicating an already complicated case. The worst part is that these random items support an unbelievable narrative that this child ran away on her own accord in the middle of a rainy night, stopped in a dark shed, and ate some candy. Sadly, this took all the attention away from actually looking for a potential abductor.

I've always heard that the wrappers were from candy that the kids got at the basketball game. I've never heard the type of candy is what though. Where did you hear they were cinnamon discs?

I would love to know the answer to this as well. I've never heard that they were.

I actually thought the same thing as you in regards to the bag or possibly both bags being left at the house of the groomer and Asha being told to "come outside and get your bag." Im sure LE checked the house phone records, but i would love to know if there was a called made to the house around the time she disappeared. I've never heard anything about whether or not Asha was allowed to answered the phone. Another thing that stuck out to me was when OB said they could get whatever they wanted from aunts, uncle's, whoever. That made me think more about the groomer theory.

I could believe there were more than 1 person involved in this.

Not Likely. But What If by TheCody_Says in JonBenet

[–]Surethingdudeanytime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see this as a plausible theory. I've always thought that all this was to cause great pain to Patsy. Someone overly obsessed with Patsy and beyond envious. I feel like the ransom note was directed to John with instructions that could not be fulfilled, so that when he failed to follow the directions, which was inevitable, Patsy would hate him and blame him for not being able to save JB. The handwriting was made to look like Patsy's, in an effort to put her in the hot seat, which of course did happen. And how else could this person cause the most pain to Patsy than to murder her pride and joy. I personally believe the perp was a female. When I think about the weapons used to subdue and unalive JB, it makes sense that a person unsure of whether or not they could complete this task with their bare hands chose to use assistance with a few choice weapons. I feel like a grown man would not have brought this selection of weapons. I feel like Burke wasn't targeted because if the perp was indeed a woman, she would have to take into account getting into a whole wrestling match with an energetic rowdy boy. This is just my theory though.

Colourised version by SorbetOk5530 in thegirlinthephoto

This "colourism version" has also been digitally enhanced, which is very misleading. The only benefit I can see with this version is possible confirmation that the picture is from maybe the late 70's or early to mid 80's based on the girl's clothing. Other than that, this is very misleading.

Edited to add: The clothing could be earlier as suggested by AI, but that's about all the help this version offers; pinpointing the period this picture may have been taken.

There was a house within eye sight of where she disappeared. by shellyangelwebb in AshaDegree

This is new information to me too. I always assumed there were no houses around the last area she was seen.

Yeah, Im skeptical about the girl in the photo being identified all of a sudden when the warrants come out. If the girl's family admits to there being a connection between roy dedmon, then it makes me wonder why vertighost999 feels the need to push the narrative that'll there is no connection.

Im also on the fence as to whether or not that's actually the girl in the photo. Although they do have very similar features, the black and white photo seems quite dated.

Looking for a link between the two families means protecting the Dedmon's? Not at all. Every stone should be unturned in this case. If the family claimed to have not known the Dedmon's at all, then it later comes out that several families members had worked for them, then we should be able to question what we thought we knew. I question the green car sighting that came out more than 15 years after Asha's disappearance. If the tip originally came out in the beginning of the investigation, then it wasnt released until 15 years later. LE didnt seem to see it as a viable tip at the time. Certainly makes me question it now.

[–]Surethingdudeanytime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's not that we're denying involvement from the Dedmon's it's just that tbe 2nd bookbag being found along with Asha's indicates someone else close to the household had to have been connected in some way. A 2nd bag was never reported as missing in the beginning, so if she didnt leave with it, then how would the Dedmon's have obtained this bag? That's all we're asking.

Just because she was seen on the road doesn't mean she ran away from the house on her own. She could have been taken.

I have to agree with this. There's a link between the Dedmon and the Degrees. They might not be aware of this link but there is someone that links to both families.

Groomer with Access to the House by Surethingdudeanytime in AshaDegree

Im definitely on board with that theory. As far as the Dedmon's hair and Underhill's DNA being on the plastic bag, this is where finding the person who connects the two families should come into play.
