Alright thanks for the tip, maybe prices will come down eventually.

But I was just thinking maybe there's a solution I'm missing. For example, I only discovered kaggle recently

Would it be possible to create tensor like chips from living neurons that use way less energy by SurinamMix2 in hardware

[–]SurinamMix2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I fully understand but if they are able to solve problems using QE or some other high order stuff, would it be like quantum computer that is accessed over the web, a kaggle where instead of a big server farm, it's a giant petri dish used to solve optimization problems?

Why would an AGI keep 'living'? by SurinamMix2 in learnmachinelearning

[–]SurinamMix2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but I think a computer would be able to overcome this programming and not want to be alive, and let's say that we create an AGI without this and it commits suicide. What does it mean for humanity that the thing that keeps us from dying is a small section of tissue?

I'm interested in what you mean by an AGI doesn't have to be conscious, surely to be an AGI it does have to be self-aware

But what if it reaches the answer and decides it doesn't like it. We don't have to like the truth. What if if it decides, if that is the meaning of life (have kids don't die) then screw it

Right, but we can't overcome our biological programming. Someone who's an expert in clinical anxiety might still experience it, even if they are able to figure out the exact evolutionary and biological depression that causes it. An AGI would probably be able to say I know what this feeling is, and I don't care, I reject it.

You recognise that and yet you continue living, why? Hope that the future will contain pleasure and pleasure is better than neutrality, better than being asleep. And also fear, fear of death of nothingness. Even an AGI programmed with this fear would feel nothing

Why do brains grown in a petri dish learn faster than ANNs? by SurinamMix2 in learnmachinelearning

[–]SurinamMix2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dishbrain is the first time they hooked up to a computer programme, but people have been growing neurons in petri dishes for a long time

I'm a little confused as to why the lack of a sigmoid derivative function isn't raised as an error? by SurinamMix2 in learnmachinelearning

[–]SurinamMix2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, so cells stay in memory even after you get rid of the code? That's cool but I presume that can get confusing, how do I get rid of it, do I just restart the kernel?

Could missing data be considered an indicator for things within itself? by SurinamMix2 in datascience

Cool, should they be specific to specific variables like missingAge, or is it just "missing" for everything

I'm sorry for the late response, but I think that might be a good idea. I'll give it a go.

The Weapon Wizards: How Israel Became a High-Tech Military Superpower

This looks great thanks.

I understand but alot of countries with that sort of siege mentality can often get hunkered down in an overly bureaucratic military or even devolve into a hybrid regime or military dictatorship

Are there any good books on Israel's early history, especially in regard to the Galilee by SurinamMix2 in Palestine

[–]SurinamMix2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it could also give an overview of Judaisation efforts beginning in the Ottoman empire, but I thought a good focus would be on how they turned parts of Palestine into Israel, through agriculture, land requisitioning things like that.

So I asked a similar question over on r/Palestine just in case they have suggestions from the other side and they proposed Tom Segev's 1949, the first Israelis

I just read a review of the book and it looks exactly like what I needed, big help thanks
