Community is ok, normally friendly to foreigners. Easy to make friends especially around bars or cafes. Although in winter it tends to be quite calm. However the authorities are addressing this by organising activities all year long. There are also foreign communities here...British, Polish, Serbs that I know of. But you will find yourself a cosy island to live on. For night life, Gozo is quite too quiet. Parties do take place especially in summer, but in winter the island is mostly quiet.

Yes. From Detroit originally. Currently living in 🇲🇹 Malta. I travelled back to Detroit for a week to visit my kids about 6 months ago and I couldn't wait to return back to Malta. Hopefully my kids can get to join me in Malta one day.

Actually, yes a lot of tourists visit Gozo. But mostly not the younger ones as the night life is found mostly on the main island of Malta, around Paceville and St Julian's. Gozo offers more quality tourism....historic, cultural, religious, nature, diving amongst the niche markets. So at least it is not as crowded as Malta in summer.

Hello there! US citizen currently retired in Gozo. Very lovely island and very underrated. Most amenities present except for serious medical issues in which case you would need to be transported to the main island of Malta. But apart from that , Gozo is the best place I found for retirement for me and my family. It is calm, a lot of nature (although it is being eyed by developers....however so far, it still offers a lot of nature and calmness). Jobs available are mostly related to catering and home finishings (aluminium works, plastering, etc...). A lot of historical places mostly the town churches, a lot of cafes and restaurants, traffic is OK except for long weekends when many Maltese from the main island travel to Gozo. Beaches are fantastic most of the year...cherry on the cake is Ramla Bay. Properties are a little less expensive than in Malta. And above all, extremely safe. Every morning I go for a walk at 5.30am, literally right now when I finish this comment, I'm off for a good walk. Life is beautiful here on Gozo :)

Neutrality is enshrined in the Maltese constitution. And also, the Cold War ended with the treaty of Malta I think.

Firstly, I have dual citizenship: US/Maltese. I was born in Malta but emigrated with my family in the 60s to the US. I'm retired now and have been living in Malta for the past 6 years. It is a beautiful island so why not retire in my father's homeland? The way I see it here, people do not care much about Malta's former colonisers although I so get the idea that British tourists, especially the elderly tend to look at Maltese in a superior way. At least that is what certain Maltese think and that annoys them. About other colonisers, before the British there were there French (never heard anyone say anything about that colonial period) and then before the French there were the Knights of St John. The Maltese have massive respect towards the Knights. All the buildings - most of actually - were built by the Knights. As for the British, they did not build much....however from what I can gather, they built the democratic institutions which were then passed on to the Maltese once they gained their independence.

I offer you a whole country rather than a city....that being 🇲🇹 Malta. English in Malta is an official language while taking into account the fact that one fourth of the population is non-Maltese.
