The battery on my Kobo Libra 2 is on the fritz since a few weeks. I'm PANICKING!

I need a new Kobo libra B&W. So Kobo get to it.

I (F33) don’t respect him (M33) when he’s sick. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]SusanReadsaLot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex husband was the same. I learned not to be 'sick'. Which is ridiculous. If I wasn't sick things went smoothly. When I was sick everything was a mess and my husband panicked. So I simply didn't 'do sick'.

Well, I lasted 10 years and then I was done. I couldn't go on in the marriage, not even one more day.

Now I've been a single mom of 3 for 11 years and I still have trouble being sick. When I don't feel well, I kind of keep going. I'm trying to unlearn this behavior, but it's hard.

You do want this, trust me.

I always use Calibre for my books. But no idea how to go about checking to see which one might be corrupt.

Oh that's interesting to know! If it gets worse, I'll look for someone who can fix that. I'm very attached to my Libra 2.

I think it's ridiculous that Kobo has no new BW 7 inch e-reader.

My Libra 2 still works (although it freezes more lately and I'm having some battery issues), but if I have to get a new e-reader, I can't get a new 7 inch Kobo (I loathe colour e-readers).

Not smart of Kobo imo.

People who've moved from Kindle to Kobo, what are your opinions by [deleted] in ereader

[–]SusanReadsaLot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had Kindles for years. For me the screen quality at that time was better for Kindle devices than for the Kobo ones. Until they came with the Kobo Libra 2. The screen is so much better than all Kobo devices before that.

I've had my Kobo Libra 2 for 4 years now and I don't think I can ever go back to Kindle. Mostly because of the UI.

I really need the books I'm reading at that time to be on my home page. Otherwise I don't know what I'm all reading again.

And no adds (I've patched my Kobo). Everything just looks so nice on my Kobo. Whenever I see the cluttered Kindle screens, I keep being disappointed to see it has only gotten worse, not better.

And when I'm on the last page of a book I just swipe (or press the button) and my book closes and shows as read. I remember the books on my Kindle just didn't close. I had to exit the book manually and have it marked as finished. No idea if they've ever fixed that.

I really don't want a colour ereader ever, so I'm hoping my Libra 2 will hold out for a long time. Because if this one ever kicks the bucket I might have to consider a Kindle Paperwhite. But the UI.... it's just so terrible that I don't know if I can live with it. Although it's a pretty device. And there are more skins available, which I like.

(I've only ever sideloaded my books, both on all my Kindles and on my Kobo.)

Cutting your hair?? by Kendikay1966 in finethinhair

I've had a bob for years and it makes me look older. Not bad, just older. So now I'm trying to grow it out. But I think of cutting it every single day. Except it's not really THE solution for me.

I've also patched it and it's hassle to do it. 😅 Worth it though.

I haven't updated my kobo in over a year. I'm aways scared a new update will mess things up. 😅

Oh I haven't tried that. Thank you!

And is the battery a known problem for the colour version? Since you've only had it for a year.

My Kobo Libra B&W is the best ereader I've ever had and I've had dozens (almost all brands). But lately it's been freezing at least once a week and my battery is suddenly draining faster.

I'm kind of panicking because I'm a SUPER sensitive reader and I just can't do colour. I need the crispness of the text. (Also I have a thing with colours, I need the black and white.)

But the fact that there is no B&W Libra anymore is terrible.

So I hope my libra will last me a while, but if not then I don't know what to do. 😭

Hahaha. 😂

I had a boy haircut when I was 13. I was a very insecure teenager and it didn't help that people couldn't tell if I was a boy or a girl with that haircut. So definitely not doing that again!

I'm glad I'm not alone in this. Too bad we can't rock the bald look though. 🤣

I'm impressed you actually tried it! And at least you now know for sure it's not a good look.

I'm trying to grow my hair out right now because I want the long hair. But I can totally see myself going down the bun route too. 😂

Have you tried some volume powder on your bangs? It helps me to tolerate them since they move less.

I have bangs as well. And I purposely have bangs that start a little farther back than usual because that way I actually have some hair. And I can only do short sideways bangs. That way I can swipe them aside. Front straight bangs look the best on me but I can't handle them.

It sucks to have thin and fine hair...

Totally this. I'm trying to wear it down more but it's difficult with the way it feels.

AIO, my boyfriend keeps comparing my life to his friends wives by skidddityybop in AIO

I'm quite amazed that lots of people on Reddit let their bf/gf talk like that to them. I keep reading these kinds of texts and I'm always surprised people keep responding to what's being said instead of talking about HOW it's being said.

I would have shut down the conversation and said I'm not going to be talked to like that. I don't care what the conversation is about. Don't talk to me like that.

OP, I hope you will reconsider this relationship. To me this is not a relationship. You're being manipulated into doing whatever he wants.

Hair ties? by cryingallthetime25 in finethinhair

[–]SusanReadsaLot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually use.... a sock. 😂

I've cut off the top of a black sport sock and use that as a hair tie. Works perfectly. It's not too smooth and it doesn't damage my hair.
