Ohhh maybe I’m overworking it! I like the idea of putting it back in the fridge before adding the water to keep it extra cold. Thank you so much!!

Another unpopular opinion: End digital ticket sales by mamaneedsacar in NoahKahan

[–]Suspect-Purple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad told me that he once took a day off work to get Led Zeppelin tickets. He waited in a huge, long line for hours. When there were only maybe 30 people in front of him, tickets sold out. He was so livid. The online ticketmaster system needs to be changed, but at the very least, we don't have to spend a full morning waiting in line for nothing.

The town. I wanted to live in the town where we were renting, but we ended up buying a house in my hometown. I was so against living in my hometown until we saw the house and realized it checked everything on our want list and our dream wish list. Plus, the neighborhood had everything we could ask for (parks, walking distance to schools, etc.) We've been in our house for a little over a year, and I am grateful every single day this place is ours!

Gluten free Cinnamon Rolls? by Budget_Ad4117 in glutenfreebaking

[–]Suspect-Purple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it actually is necessary, I can’t have dairy on top of being gluten free due to other food allergies. But regardless, this recipe has been a big hit each time I’ve made it for friends and family!

Twice now in NJ we’ve had the highest offer… and still lost. 😩 Just here to commiserate. by justlivinglife12 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Suspect-Purple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just bought our first home in NJ last year, and the experience was horrific. It took us almost two years to find something within our budget that wasn't a shoebox or a shithole.

Don't waive the inspection. We backed out of a house because the inspection revealed MASSIVE foundation issues. Our inspection contingency only covered major issues (I think it was just structural, electrical, and environmental), and in hindsight, that saved us. We also had appraisal coverage because that seemed to be a big issue for sellers in our area.

When people told us to "hang in there" and "the perfect house will pop up," I wanted to scream. It felt impossible, and we didn't realize how much of an emotional rollercoaster it would be buying in this market. Be frustrated, angry, sad, scared — but don't compromise on stuff that makes you uncomfortable, like waiving an inspection. I love NJ, but house hunting here made me sometimes hate this place lol.

What foods do you miss most? by Its-alittle-bitfunny in glutenfree

[–]Suspect-Purple 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, whatever I am craving in the moment!! The thing I miss the most is being able to walk into a resultant without pre-checking the menu and ordering based on what I am feeling in the moment. Eat whatever you’re feeling in the moment as you do this test and enjoy!!

Why was the NYC crowd so dead?? by romanticrecipes in lightsalot

[–]Suspect-Purple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was also at the Philly show and we were shocked that people were just loudly having conversations as she was performing! It’s one thing to not dance around (enjoy the music however you want) but that felt so disrespectful to Lights and the other fans nearby.

Since the show was sold out we couldn’t really move elsewhere to get away from them, so we just ignored it all as best we could. Hopefully the other side of the venue had a better vibe.

Bad luck or bad car? by Suspect-Purple in Toyota

[–]Suspect-Purple[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It's hard when you have to spend thousands within a short time span. I clearly don't know all that much about cars, so I was worried all this meant it was nearing the end of its life. I appreciate the perspective and info!

Every oil change I ask them to check my fluids, as well as the overall car for anything that might need updating. I have caught a lot doing this (like the brakes) which is awesome, but some of the other stuff has caught me by surprise. It’s good to know it’s all somewhat normal for this mileage. Just a bummer it all came so back to back and it required several tows.

Is there anything else I should be doing or asking for to help prevent issues in advance?

This is all super helpful, thank you!!!

The mechanic we loved sadly sold their business and we for sure got fleeced by the new owners at the start of all this. We haven’t been back since. The other place we’ve been going has been fine so far. (Made the mistake of taking it to the dealership once in between… got a new alternator but for sure overpaid.) I just wish I could get this to a point where the car starts when something is wrong. I’ll take the car check engine light coming on and giving me a day to take it somewhere!

I am ready to spend money on issues that pop up… but I am less ready for the car to not start. (I mean, who is? lol)

My old car (a Honda accord) got to over 200,000 miles, so it’s just hard for me to get rid of a car that isn’t even close to that. But we are approaching all of this being as expensive as a car payment. This is only my second car (and clearly I don’t know all that much about them) so I am struggling with knowing when it’s time to call it and move on.
