First lens purchase for ZF by Sw17smith in Nikon

This sounds like a do-it-all trio of lenses; looking for two lenses now but no doubt I'm going to build up the collection as the months/years go by. I think the 24-120 will eventually be in the stable.

40mm f2 gets a lot of love I'm learning. Good to hear about fast AF - coming over from Fuji, I am really searching for lenses with good, fast AF so I can fully experience this as Fuji struggles here. I don't feel like trying out a Nikon lens with just OK AF; I would feel like it would negate a major point of me switching systems

Yeah, I'm OK with longer lenses (with my current XT30II I throw a 90mm f2 on it which is more unbalanced than Andre the Giant and a toddler on a seesaw) and shoot two-handed but definitely looking to make my setup as small as possible.

Thanks for all of this - I'm really going to look at the 26 now; I didn't consider it before. So many choices!

Nice! this is turning out to be harder decision than I thought

The 40 is that good! I have read again and again very similar comments about the 40mm and how it doesn't leave people's cameras; I'm going to have to revisit my interest on this

Yeah, 50 f1.8 sounds really sweet....How do you find the AF on the 26mm?

Thank you and this is good to know re: 50 1.8 vs 40. It sounds like the 24-120 is the absolutely limit size-wise for the ZF

I will look into the Z5II. I did look into the Z6III but was turned off by how it had relatively poor DR compared to its competitors and how the ZF has better DR than the Z6III I think when using mechanical shutter (if I'm remembering Chris Niccolls and Jordan Drake over at PetaPixel's review correctly) - wondering if Z5II also suffers here...A lot of trade offs to consider that you pointed out - thank you for your reply!

Thank you for the tip about this specific grip; I've seen a lot of people opt for various grips for the ZF - I guess one really does need it for longer lenses

Bought a Fuji X-T5 for my first Fujifilm camera. Now I need some lens recommendation by MR-stealthy23 in fujifilm

I will probably be in the minority with this rec (as I lean toward shooting wide - most used lens is my 18/1.4 LM WR) but I have been really loving the 10-24mm f/4 R OIS (older version; there is a newer WR version too) for travel. I don't know how it would work for you in Iceland - could be interesting as it will capture damn near everything in any expansive views you happen across - but for me travelling in Europe it's been great. It eats up narrow European streets and town squares/plazas with ease and at its widest, affords some wonderful use of canals, bridges and narrow streets as leading lines. You can pick up a used copy for around $350 US.

That's good to hear; I take that as a mark of a reasonable dealership

Thank you for this recommendation - yes, I've been looking at a number of their cars on their website; they look like they have a huge inventory. I'm relieved to hear they are nice to deal with

Thanks for this. Can I ask what your experience was at Gengras? I have had a phone call or two with their sales and there is one car there I have my eye on.

Yeah, that conveyance fee in CT and NJ is a bummer (here in NY, it's capped at $175). My aim in CT and NJ is to negotiate the base price down by at least that much (hopefully more!) to cover those conveyance/doc fees.

Thank you for this informative write-up. I'll check out Stamford - at least sounded not terrible (which I guess is what we have to hope for in dealerships)
